Wednesday 4th September 2002
Midland Combination Premier
Meir KA 1 v 2 Coleshill Town

Scorers: Lee Bloxham, Paul Burns.

Coleshill made the longest trip of the season up to Meir, on the borders of Stoke on Trent, on a Wednesday evening and due to a pile up on the Motorway arrived just twenty minutes before kick off time. The lack of preparation showed in the opening exchanges but Town dug deep and managed to take the lead with 19 year old Lee Bloxham's first goal for the club. Meir hit back with a goal in one of their few attacks but Coleshill dictated play and were finally rewarded with an early contender for Goal Of The Season. Paul Burns gained possession mid way in his own half, with defenders backing off Burns kept going before unleashing an unstoppable shot from 30 yards. Coleshill have had to make this trip mid-week for three consecutive seasons and each time they have come away with a 2-1 win.

Team: Greg Allen, Lee McCarthy, Lee O'Brien (Ben Harrison), Verbrugge, Glen Simms (Liam Franks), Lee Bloxham, Chris Kavanaugh, Paul Burns, Carl Mitchell, Matty Devine, Mitchell Thompson.
