Coleshill Gorge On Eight Goal Feast
Coleshill romped to an 8-0 win over basement team Southam United, thanks mainly to a second half performance full of confidence and some fine finishing. As soon as Mitchell Thompson scored the first of three in the 30th minute there was only one outcome. Coleshill were awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal and as Ray Scandrett floated the ball into the danger area, Thompson got the finest of touches with his head to glance the ball into the net. Two minutes later, Town increased their lead when quick thinking by Paul Burns released Dave Wilson down the right wing. His low cross caused confusion in the home defence and a defender slid the ball into his own net. The second half was one way traffic from the off. Chris Kavanaugh released Thompson who confidently shot low past the keeper. A Carl Mitchell effort was saved by the keeper but Thompson was on hand to head the rebound into an empty net to complete his hat-trick. On 60 minutes Dave Wilson scored the goal of the game when he cut inside and unleashed a left foot shot from 25 yards that sailed into the top corner leaving the keeper with no chance. Then a long accurate ball out of defence by Scandrett found midfield runner Chris Kavanaugh who shot low past the keeper. Substitute Tony Gormley was unlucky to see his volley tipped over the bar before Paul Burns scored the last two goals. His first was a header from a Gormley cross and the rout was completed when Burns controlled a Mardenborough cross and found the far corner with a left foot shot.

Team: Greg Allen, Carl Mitchell (Richard Gathercole), Lee O'Brien, Verbrugge, Glen Simms, Ray Scandrett, Chris Kavanaugh (Tony Gormley), Paul Burns, Dwayne Mardenborough, Dave Wilson (Stuart Howard), Mitchell Thompson.
