Castle Vale 3 v 2 Coleshill Town

Postby Alan Beckett » Wed Feb 09, 2005 2:52 pm

Saturday 5th February 2005
Midland Combination Premeir Division
Castle Vale 3 v 2 Coleshill Town
Scorers: Stuart Howard, Stuart McLaughlan.

Coleshill mounted a brave second half fightback at the Vale Stadium, despite being reduced to ten men. Mick Beadle's side have not tasted victory in 2005 and things looked bad for them at half time as the hosts claimed a 3-0 lead through Aaron Smith, Mike Frazier and Gary Ray. It looked even worse for Beadle's men after the interval when Des Wilkes was shown his second yellow card and the inevitable red. However, the men from Pack Meadow showed plenty of spirit and should have claimed a point. They were presented with a golden opportunity to kick start the revival when they were awarded a penalty on the hour mark, however, Steve Lees fired over the bar, his second spot kick miss of the season. Stuart Howard and Stuart McLaughlan then reduced the arrears but Vale held on to claim all three points.
"We were poor in the first half but I am not the type of manager to rant and rave at half time," said Beadle. "I just looked for the positives and focused on them and the boys responded. They may be short of confidence at the moment but can take heart from the second half display."

Team;- Miles Millington-Day, Matt Ward, James Lloyd (Stuart McLaughlan), Des Wilkes, Steve Lees, Stu Howard, Josh McPherson, Carl Smith (Dean Farrington), Pete Hall (Adrian Walker), Danny Carter, Mitchell Thompson.
