MATCH REPORT
A local derby, a decent crowd and a good game to watch but Sutton, after a poor start to the season, were the better side and fully deserved the win.
Fitzgerald and Edmunds down the Royals left hand side were causing the Colemen lots of problems and almost carved out an early goal but a last ditch tackle by Oscar Tonge prevented a tap in. Taylor Byrne headed an Alex Tomkinson corner just over the bar. Hilton’s dancing feet give him a sight of goal but keeper Paul Hathaway saved the former Coleman’s shot before Sutton did take the lead on 23 minutes with a fine solo effort from Fitzgerald. He picked up the ball just inside the Coleshill half, did a one-two with Collins before cleverly side stepping two tackles and casually stroking the ball into the net, right footed. Sutton had further chances to increase their lead, Ryan Edmunds, another ex Coleshill player, with the best chance but his shot was saved by Hathaway‘s feet. Coleshill replied with a header from Taylor Byrne from an Alex Tomkinson cross going just the wrong side of the post.

Early in the second half debutant Rio Molyneaux made a fine run into the box, keeper Brown making a good save but also a good shout for a penalty but nothing given. Coleshill played much better in the second half, Taylor Byrne and Robbie Bunn going close to getting an equaliser and Lewis Collins hitting the bar, but the visitors made the points safe with a second goal on 76 minutes when McSkeanne’s attempted cross went in off the far post. Theo Rowe’s fine run and cross down the left found the head of Josh Willis but his effort was cleared off the line. The home side had another good shout for a penalty as Ewan Williams went down in the box but it summed up Coleshill’s day as they got nothing for their efforts.

A disappointing result after such a good performance at Corby. Up next is a visit to Leamington in the FA Cup.
