HAT TRICK HERO MONTAGUE
A Paul Montague hat trick put Coleshill on the winning trail in their Midland Combination Division One home game against Studley on Saturday. And the striker might have made it four if he hadn't fluffed a late chance. It is his fourth goal in two games and his goal scoring form reflects the high confidence of the team this season. Manager David Kite said: "Confidence is sky high in the camp at present, the side has found the right direction and we are playing well together. We got our attitude right on Saturday and it paid off. The week before we were a bit disappointing but the Studley win made up for that." And the win is even better from Coleshill's point of view considering they were several players short on Saturday due to injuries and holidays. Dawkins, Cumminski and McGreevy were just three missing men but a fine team showing meant that the missing cogs did not detract from the efficiency of the machine. Coleshill were two up by half time. Montague's first goal came after 15 minutes, he turned to crack a shot through a crowded goalmouth from a cross by Danny Conway. It was an opportunist goal and one which lifted Coleshill. The home side pressed on and were two up by the half hour. This time John Allen's free kick was floated over a defensive wall and up went Montague to plant his header inside the far post. By the time number three arrived Studley were well beaten. Montague took on two defenders before slipping the ball past the goalkeeper and inside the near post. John Allen gave the side plenty of drive and direction from midfield and left back Ray Hartry made a fine contribution in handling a difficult winger and still managing to go forward. Manager Kite was pleased with the turnout which at 100 or so is a vast improvement on what the club has been able to expect in recent seasons. Coleshill welcome Racing Warwick on Saturday in the Birmingham Senior Cup. The match gives them the chance for revenge, Warwick travelled to beat Coleshill 1-0 with a penalty in the second match of the season in a game the home side should have won. Kite sees the match as being of crucial importance, "It is the only outside cup competition we are in, a good cup run in the Senior Cup would do the side a power of good." Kick Off 3pm.
