COLESHILL DISAPPOINT

Following two successive wins, Coleshill disappointed against Highgate, but the writing was on the wall as early as the fifth minute when it became apparent that Town's centre back Harry Burrows was going to have a difficult time curbing the dangers of Highgate's "giant" striker Tommy Owens. The heading ability of the six foot, four inch Owens had Coleshill's defence in a constant panic, while in midfield the homesters failed to string two passes together throughout the 90 minutes. Coleshill's front runners Dawkins, Montague and Nardiello became isolated through lack of support. It was one of those days for Coleshill and in the 28th minute goalkeeper Wright showed his weakness in taking crosses, by failing to hold a ball that subsequently bobbed around the one yard box before full back McGreavy was forced to handle off the line. Hemphill stepped up to shoot the spot kick home. Two spasmodic attacks by Town brought the first half to a close. A brief flurry in the first few minutes of the second period saw the end of Coleshill's attacking contribution to the proceedings. The midfield, as a backing force, disappeared and Highgate attacked at will. Bosnan, 59 mins, Houston, 65 mins and Owens 78 mins, completed the scoring. Obviously a big let down for manager David Kite, but he and his assistant Colin Turnbull are alive to the situation and will no doubt get the format right in the end.

SOLIHULL NEWS WROTE
GATE SUPERB

Everything came right for Highgate as they completely outclassed their opponents in every phase of the game. Goals from Avery, Brosnan, Curley and big Tommy Owens emphasised Highgate's superiority. The writing was on the wall for Coleshill as early as the 10th minute when Owens' dominance in the air began to cause the Coleshill defence all sorts of problems. Gate exerted continual pressure and could have won by a far greater margin.
