SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
COLESHILL FIRED BY ROSSITER
Despite the incentive of a 6th minute lead - scored in fine style by their best forward Dave Shaw - complacent Gornal were humiliated in this Preliminary Round Replay. Casual play allowed Coleshill to net a 12th minute equaliser through Steve Jones. John Rossiter then put them into the lead in the 18th minute. Bad marking by the home defence lead to Coleshill's third goal before the break, Gary Mottram lifted a free kick over a wall and defender Steve Taylor handled. Colin Holder made no mistake from the spot. Otherwise reliable keeper Peter Leeson was himself guilty of complacency in the 81st minute when he allowed a shot from Rossiter to slip from his grasp for Coleshill's fourth.
