CASTLE BROMWICH NEWS WROTE
Coleshill Still Seek Success

Coleshill entertained Paget at Pack Meadow and after a hard fought, close encounter again had to put up with being second best at the final whistle. They are still without a point after eight Midland Combination games. Manager Mervyn Parsons introduced Kevin Hunt and Steve Dore into the attack and also made four positional changes. Coleshill defended well and all the team showed plenty of endeavour, but did not have the finishing touch to round off some well executed moves. Dore hit the post for Coleshill after only five minutes, but Paget replied with Wooldridge bringing a good save from keeper Sammons. Town’s newcomers were doing well at this stage and with midfield support from Gibbons they forced Paget to back pedal. Whipps put Dore clear after beating two defenders, but with only keeper Sullivan to beat the home striker was adjudged offside. Paget’s Sharp miss-hit a half chance following a goalmouth scramble and back at the other end Hunt forced Sullivan to save a header from a cross by Whipps. Near the interval Sammons was injured saving from Cotton and Paget began the second half strongly. Coleshill defended stoutly and Hunt relieved the pressure by winning a corner. In the 71st minute Paget scored the decisive goal when Glen Arnold hit a cross-shot which gave Sammons no chance of saving. Seconds later Sammons saved brilliantly from Cotton. Hunt tried a snap shot in the 84th minute and right on time Gibbons made a strong run from midfield, only to be bustled off the ball. The next two Saturdays see Coleshill visiting Knowle, first in the F.A. Vase and then in the Birmingham Senior Cup.
