MOTORMEN RACE INTO FA VASE 3rd ROUND AS COLESHILL TOWN FAIL TO START AT ROYAL OAK WAY
Match Report From Royal Oak Way By Glenn Lawrence

Coleshill Town from the Midlands Combination Premier Division suffered a disappointing afternoon which saw them knocked out of the FA Vase by lowly United Counties League side Ford Sports.

Having knocked out Atherstone Town and Sutton Town in the previous 2 rounds of the FA Vase at Royal Oak Way Ford Sports once again proved League form counts for nothing in the Cup, Current form sees Ford Sports languishing at the wrong end of the UCL table having won just 4 league games from 15 league outings.

Heavy overnight frost had left a frozen strip down one side of the Ground along much of the Main stand touch-line but the pitch was passed playable by Referee Mr Lovegrove on a chilly crisp sunny afternoon the Home Supporters were soon jumping for joy as Ford Sports had the perfect start taking the lead after just 35 Seconds when Ben Foster hit home low into the far corner of the net from the corner of the 6 yard box following Mark Drakes inch perfect cross from the right wing which found Foster at the far post. Coleshill Town were forced to defend and only a fine save from Miles Millington-Day denied Ford Sports a second goal on 18 minutes with the home side looking the stronger only another fine save from Millington-Day denied Chris Trill after 26 minutes from the resulting corner Chris Evans fired over the Coleshill Town crossbar when well placed from 7 yards out. Coleshill saw a half chance sail over the Home crossbar on 37 minutes but never really tested Sean Markie in the home goal. Ford Sports doubled there lead on 39 minutes when Mark Drake found Chris Evans who's over head kick with his back towards goal from 8 yards out sailed into the Coleshill net as the home side finished well on top and leading 2-0 after the first 45 minutes.

Coleshill Town enjoyed a good start too the second half and pulled a Goal back on 47 minutes when Michael Campbell hit home through a crowded penalty area as the Home defence failed to clear the ball.Coleshill came close to levelling the score when a header flashed wide of the target. Ford Sports had the ball in the back of the net again 2 minutes later only to have there effort ruled out by an off-side flag. Ben Foster was unlucky in the 50th minute when he fired wide of the far post from 15 yards out. As Ford Sports created more chances Foster was again guilty of missing guilt edged chances when he hit wide from 4 yards out following Tim Clack's well timed run down the right wing and inch perfect cross to the near post. On 62 minutes Ford Sports went further ahead when Ian Pearce found Chris Trill who hit home low into the net from 18 yards. Coleshill moved up a gear but still struggled to break down a well marshalled Ford Sports defence on 69 minutes only a fine save from Markie denied Coleshill's Kevin Wagstaff as the Goalkeeper turned around the post his 18 yard effort following Campbell's pass. Ford Sports added a 4th Goal on 76 minutes when Chris Trill eluded the Visitors defence to slide the Ball home Low into the far corner of the net from the corner of the 6 yard area. Coleshill Town were awarded an 80th minute penalty when Danny Greaves was uprooted by advancing home goalkeeper Sean Markie from the resulting spot-kick Alan Wright hammered the ball home into the middle of the net.

Ford Sports played some good neat attacking football which produced 4 Well taken Goals against a Coleshill side who were guilty of sloppy defending the visitors always looked second best they never really started until the second half when they put some urgency into there play.40 spectators watched an enjoyed, entertaining, hard fought and well officiated FA Vase encounter.
