Saturday 22nd April 2006
Midland Combination Premier Division
Massey Ferguson 0 v 5 Coleshill Town
Scorers: James Dance 2, Danny Carter 2, David Brush.

The strength and depth of Mick Beadle's squad was severely tested as a whole new back four took the field aginst stuggling Massey Ferguson. Sam Chatwin played his first game in six, Brendon Shilton had missed the last 17 and Mitchell Thompson took up an unfamiliar full back role. Only Youth team captain Josh Gunter had played in the defence of the last few games. Beadle's plan to make up for the lack of experience at the back by going for all out attack worked in the end but Massey caused some moments of panic in the first half as Coleshill played a high line, but once they got to grips with the long ball over the top for the Massey robust centre forward there was only one outcome, a comfortable Coleshill win. The home team had the ball in the net first but the effort was ruled out for off side. On 35 mins Brendon Shilton shot from distance but his blocked effort fell to the feet of David Brush who advanced into the box, rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into the path of Danny Carter who tapped into an empty net. Only a minute later Shilton again struck for goal but this time his shot was half cleared to James Dance who immediately smacked the ball past the diving keeper from 20 yards. The game was over as a contest before half time as Carter got his second and Coleshill's third. A Kevin Wagstaff cross was half cleared but Carl Smith maintained the momentum and cleverly fed Carter. The little striker jinked past his marker before casually stroking the ball beyond the outstretched arm of the keeper and into the side of the net. Josh Gunter came up with a last ditch tackle to deny Massey some consolation just before the break. The only down part of the afternoon was the re-occurance of a ham sring injury for hat trick seeking Carter and he must now be a doubt for the remainder of the season. Coleshill slowed play down in the second half and still had enough over the home team to add goals from James Dance and David Brush to round off a five star performance from a make shift team.

Team;-Chris Butler, Mitchell Thompson, Josh Gunter, Simon Chatwin, Brendon Shilton, James Dance, Rob Ellis, Carl Smith, David Brush, Danny Carter, Kevin Wagstaff. Subs Myrone Levy, Ryan Gardner.
