Quorn FC v COLESHILL TOWN FC

2 Goals for Coleshill take them Second

After a long journey to Leicester we arrived at the ground via police escort who had noticed we were looking a bit lost. The game kicked off slightly earlier than expected as the referee had informed the teams of the change just five minutes before the kick off. This did not seem to affect the teams as both started at a fast pace playing some good football.

The opening encounters were a hard battle and Quorn were only able to produce a long range effort that went comfortably over the crossbar (2 mins). It wasn?t until the 15th minute that Coleshill launched their first real attack and earned a corner. Stuart delivered a good cross which Liam met with a firm header downwards that went narrowly wide. In the 20th minute the lively midfield of Quorn found themselves a yard of space before having a long range effort that sailed over the cross bar. In the 24th minute Coleshill were awarded a free kick near the corner flag which Cameron delivered and again Liam rose above the defenders only to glance the ball wide.

Coleshill had started to dominate the possession at this point and were applying a lot of pressure. After good work down the right between Luke and Stuart, Coleshill forced a corner (33 mins). Again Stuart delivered well and Liam met the cross with a header that looked destined for goal only for Shane to flick the ball over the crossbar with his head from 3 yards out. After soaking up the pressure, Quorn went on the attack again and had another long range effort that went narrowly over the crossbar though Adam was well positioned to cover it anyway (35 mins).

In the 37th minute Cameron did well to beat the defender and deliver a cross which ran loose to the feet of Lewis but a good block from the defender prevented a certain goal. Again Stuart looked very lively down the right wing and managed to lose his marker before crossing the ball which looked as though it was going behind only for it to bounce on the top of the crossbar. The final few minutes of the half were played in the midfield with no chances being created for either side.

Half Time 0-0

After the Half time break Quorn started brightly earning an early corner which was comfortably cleared by the Coleshill defence. Coleshill then began to find their rhythm again and continued to pass the ball well and play some good football. In the 54th minute Quorn had a long range free kick giving them the opportunity to push their bigger players forward but the ball was easily claimed by Adam. He then threw a quick ball out to Alex who started to break down the right wing only to be halted by a reckless challenge from the Quorn midfielder. This resulted in him needing extensive treatment before later hobbling off the field to be replaced by Joe. Joe quickly picked up the pace of the game and started to pass the ball well through the midfield.

In the 60th minute Stuart and Shane linked up well before being fouled near the corner flag. Cameron came across to deliver the cross which Liam met with a bullet header that left the keeper with no chance as it flew under the crossbar. 1-0.

After the goal Quorn immediately went on the attack earning a corner from which they headed narrowly over the crossbar. Quorn then won the ball back again and had a long range effort on goal but it was comfortably saved by Adam (63 mins).

In the 67th minute Justin turned his marker well and released Stuart down the right who had a strong run and shot which was comfortably saved by the goalkeeper. In the 69th minute Quorn again found space and produced another fine long range effort which was saved well by Adam down to his left.

In the 81st minute a long free kick from John bounced through to Stuart who controlled it and hit a good shot which was well saved by the keeper at his feet. Quorn then attacked straight down the left and delivered a dangerous low cross which Adam had to dive down and collect well to beat the attacker to the ball.

In the 83rd minute Stuart who was now playing as a striker, played the ball in to Justin who fired just over from 18 yards out. Quorn then started to apply a lot of pressure before having a rasping shot well held by Adam before quickly releasing Cameron down the left who earned a corner (87 mins). From the resulting corner, Stuart whipped the ball in hard and low towards the front post which the keeper dived down to meet but let it slip through into his goal. 2-0. In the 90th minute Quorn had 1 last effort on goal which was struck well from distance and swerving wildly but Adam tipped the ball over the crossbar well, ensuring a clean sheet for Coleshill.
