Castle Vale 1 v 5 Coleshill Town FC - 28 February 2006

This league game was a local derby which certainly was very eventful and full of incidents. It was a very cold evening and a number of the spectators decided to watch the match from inside the Castle Vale Social Club. The facilities at Castle Vale are excellent and from a spectators? point of view are very comfortable. The game started well enough with both teams playing well and trying to score the opening goal. Justin Grandison eventually made the break through and scored an excellent goal. Before half time we scored another 2 goals one of which was a penalty that was very well taken by Thomas (TJ) Holder. However during the first half a nasty tackle by a Castle Vale player on Adrian Caldicott result in Adrian retaliating and being given the red card which left us 0-3 up but down to 10 men at half time. The second half started off fairly well but an incident involved Thomas (AKA) Atkins occurred, also retaliating against a Castle Vale player, and the referee had no alternative but to send both players off. Coleshill Town although being down to 9 men played some good football which resulted in a hat trick for TJ and a goal from Josh Gunter. Castle Vale also scored a goal in the second half. We used all our subs: Peter Crowe, Lee Beddows and Stuart Lee and Peter played particularly well with a superb cross which resulted in a goal. The final score was 1-5 which is an excellent win for Coleshill Town but unfortunately the match was marred by the two sending offs which may cost us dearly for further matches. :x
