TUESDAY 12th SEPTEMBER 2006
MIDLAND COMBINATION PREMIER DIVISION
COLESHILL TOWN 1 v 3 NUNEATON GRIFF
Scorer: Shaun Kidson.

Ok, so we couldn't beat Bolehall and we go to their place and win 3-1. Records show we can't beat Nuneaton Griff either, so here was our chance to put that one right as well! No! It just doesn't happen for us when Griff come to Town. The first half was all us but we went into the break 1-0 down. They deservedly went 2-0 up but then we really put them under pressure, got a goal back but they went straight up the other end and scored again.

Mick Beadle was without the injured trio of David Brush, Ian Bluck and Raddi Richards. Out of form James Dance dropped to the bench and in came Lee Colvin, Dan Greaves and Carlos McIntosh.

Coleshill made a confident start following their fine win in the Vase but the closest they came was a Ryan Gardiner effort that went just over. Griff looked dangerous on the break but Greg Allen was once again in fine form and cleared up any danger. With half time within view Coleshill got caught trying to push up for off side. Alan Wright got back to clear but his kick went straight up in the air and came down virtually on the goal line and with both Hipkiss and Allen unable to clear the danger Hoverd scrambled the ball over the line.

Coleshill made the worst possible start to the second half when Wagstaff appeared to be fouled, the ball deflected off the referee into the path of Tom Thacker who confidently went on to score. Minutes later the same player thundered the ball off the cross bar, then Allen saved a one on one situation. On 66 mins Dan Greaves forced a corner and a pin point cross from Wagstaff was headed in by Shaun Kidson. Game on, but Griff hit back immediately when Wilkes hit a shot into the ground and the ball bounced over Allan into the goal. Two Wagstaff corners caused problems for the visitors defence, McIntosh had a shot saved, Josh McPherson had a header tipped over and a Gardiner header was saved on the line, as Coleshill finally got their game together but it was all too late as the points were already on there way to Nuneaton.

Team:- Greg Allen, Ryan Gardiner, Rob Hipkiss, Lee Colvin (Shane Higgins), Dan Greaves, Josh McPherson, Simon Volante, Shaun Kidson, Carlos McIntosh, Kevin Wagstaff. Subs not used Carl Smith, James Dance, Rob Ellis, Josh Gunter.
