Wednesday 11th October 2006
Midland Combination Premier Division
Brocton 2 v 4 Coleshill Town

Scorers: Paul Burns, James Dance, Rob Ellis, David Brush.

Manager Mick Beadle is slowly getting his long term absentees back to give strength to his squad. James Dance and influential forward David Brush both started against Brocton as did new signing Paul Burns, and Mark Ward came into defence for his first start of the season but Kevin Wagstaff and Josh McPherson were both on the bench as they were carrying niggling injuries.

Coleshill made a good start in an attacking 3-5-3 formation giving Brush the freedom to roam. Burns gave Town the extra drive in midfield that they had been missing recently and all looked good but on 18 mins Brocton took the lead completely against the run of play. The home teams attack along the 18 yard box seemed to have peeted out but Rob Hipkiss accidentally stood on the ball leaving No11 a free shot at goal that he took full advantage of. Two minutes later Raddi Richards received the ball from a throw in deep on the touch line but his pin point cross found Burns at the far post who found the net with a trade mark header. On 27 mins Danny Carter, who is having a great run at the moment, turned his defender inside out and his hard and low cross was parried by the keeper to the feet of James Dance who finished for the lead. Brocton had played their part in an entertaining and exciting first half and their best player No4 nicked the ball in midfield and found the top corner of the net with a stunning side foot chip shot .

The second half never lived up to the first as the game stopped and started but it was Coleshill who looked the more likely to add to the score sheet and the goal finally came on 75 mins. Danny Carter ran for a lost cause and gained a corner. Brush crossed and Rob Hipkiss headed goalward at the near post. The keeper dropped the ball again and Rob Ellis reacted first to smash the ball into the net from 2 yards. A Carter shot stung the hands of the keeper then Brush had a chance to finish the game when clear but fluffed his shot but made amends in injury time in a good keep ball move Simon Volante released Brush who confidently stroked the ball home.

Team;- Chris Butler, Rob Ellis, Mark Ward, Ryan Gardiner, Rob Hipkiss, Paul Burns (Josh McPherson), Carl Smith, David Brush, Raddi Richards (Simon Volante), Danny Carter, James Dance (Daryl Higgins). Sub not used Kevin Wagstaff, Josh Gunter.
