SATURDAY 11th NOVEMBER 2006
MIDLAND COMBINATION PREMIER DIVISION
COLESHILL TOWN 4 v 0 SOUTHAM UNITED
Scorers: David Brush 2, Danny Carter, James Dance.

With the goal against Brocton now confirmed as 35 minutes, the time Coleshill have played without conceding now stands at 685 minutes, and counting! Nine straight league wins is also, as far as I can make out, a new club record. In setting these records Coleshill have defended magnificently but haven't played very attractive football. On Saturday it all came together and Town blew away a Southam side who themselves had aspirations of being in the championship shake up come the end of the season. Walsall Wood continued their fine recent run to maintain top spot but they travel to Pack Meadow in our next league game, with two cup matches in between.
Coleshill scored their first on 14mins but by then they could have already been three up. Within seconds of the start Michael Campbell chased down a short back pass and crunched into a tackle with the keeper outside his box. The outcome was a corner to Town but an injury to the keeper which eventually led to his substitution at half time. Danny Carter forced the under pressure keeper into a diving save at the foot of the post then Campbell dragged a shot wide when through on goal. The good start was finally rewarded when Simon Volante lobbed the ball to the far post where Carter volleyed back across goal and into the far corner of the net. On 17mins Rob Ellis collected a deep Dance cross and entered the penalty box, a tug restricted his progress but the Assistant Referee had seen the foul and assisted the Referee by flagging for a spot kick. David Brush made it 2-0. Brush was back again minutes later as a free kick just cleared the bar with the keeper scrambling along his line. Over half an hour had passed before Southam had an attempt at goal but a sliced shot went well wide. The visitors were trying to get a foothold in the game and forced a corner but Coleshill broke quickly with Brush finding Danny Carter who jinked inside and shot at goal. The keeper saved with his feet but the ball fell to James Dance who shot low and hard through a crowd of players and into the net. Within two minutes the game was over as a contest as Coleshill got their fourth, again from the penalty spot. Campbell and Carter exchanged passes and the former went down in a heap from a strong challenge. This time the Referee had no hesitation as he had a good view and pointed to the spot. Brush again confidently did the honours. Coleshill were camped on the edge of Southam's box , Carter volleyed again but brought a fine diving save from the keeper and Brush almost completed his hat trick with a free kick from 35 yards that hit the bar, as Coleshill finished their best 45mins of the season well on top.
Coleshill's objective in the second half was not to get complacent and maintain the clean sheet and they did this despite Southam coming more into the game. Coleshill had their chances to increase the scoring the best being a sweeping move involving Brush, Simon Volante and finally Rob Ellis who shot over when well placed and two James shots that forced the stand in keeper into good saves.

Team:- Greg Allen, Mark Ward, Ryan Gardiner, Rob Hipkiss (Des Wilkes), Rob Ellis, Simon Volante, Josh McPherson (Matty Tomlinson), David Brush, Michael Campbell, Danny Carter, James Dance (Alex Lewis). Subs not used Raddi Richards, Carl Smith.
