Coleshill were determined to get back on track and make the defeat at Griff mid week just a blip in their quest for the title and after 45 mins a win was very much on the cards. Castle Vale however had other ideas and really went for it second half. They were assisted by some strange referee decisions, for both sides, but the crunch came when Raddy Richards was sent off for a challenge that, in my opinion, didn't even warrant a yellow card.

Local rivals Castle Vale had the ball in the net within two minutes as the Coleshill defence backed off and Arron Smith tapped in from a yard out. Luckily the effort was dissallowed for off side and with that let off Coleshill slowly started to gain the upper hand. On 8mins Danny Carter shot wide and so did Michael Campbell on 12 mins but the later should have done much better as he had time and space from only 8 yards out. Coleshill did take the lead on 16 mins when Rob Ellis ran at the defence, got into the box, and was then upended. David Brush scored from the spot to put Coleshill into a well deserved lead. James Dance did well to get into a shooting position but shot wide and a Josh McPherson header caused panic within the six yard box as Coleshill took control. On 36 mins McPherson broke up a Vale move and strode forward into the box. The midfielder was forced wide but still managed to shoot with his left foot and the looping effort sailed over the visitors keeper and into the top corner. Coleshill were awared another penalty on the stroke of half time with both Carter and Campbell challenging for the ball but the assistant referee on the far side had already flagged for off side.

Coleshill's influentual midfielder David Brush had to be replaced at half time with a thigh injury, Raddy Richards taking his place. Vale came out with all guns blazing and pushed Coleshill's overworked defence further and further back. Their aggressive and up tempo play finally gained reward when Arron Smith jinked into the box and was fouled by Mark Ward. Shane Benjamin scored from the spot, game on. Castle Vale had the better of the play for twenty five minutes of the half but Coleshill seemed to weather the storm and started to create chances of their own. McPherson shot over then from a free kick Carter fed Campbell who shot across goal when really well placed. The Vale keeper picked up a back pass to give Coleshill their best chance to finish the game off but Rob Ellis's deflected effort hit the bar. With ten minutes remaining Vale hit the foot of the post from a corner and as the ball was cleared Raddy Richards stretched to reach the ball in front of a Vale player but the Referee adjudged it to be a late challenge and sent Richards off. Coleshill readjusted to a 4-4-1 formation and with some desperate defending looked to hang on to all three points. On eighty five mins Smith took on Ward in the box and although the attacker was forced wide he managed to shoot across Butler in the Coleshill goal and find the far side netting, 2-2. A draw was probably a fair result in a game of two halves but Vale nearly won it as Benjamin went clear, Ward tried to pull him back but the striker went on to smash a shot over the bar.

Coleshill's injuries are piling up and the constant two games a week takes it's toll but there is a rest from the league on Tuesday as Town take on Dudley Town in the Birmingham Mid Week Cup. Then in rest of December, Coleshill have five league games with only Cadbury in the top half.

Team:- Chris Butler, Mark Ward, Rob Hipkiss, Ryan Gardiner, Rob Ellis, Josh McPherson, Scott Wilson, James Dance, David Brush (Raddy Richards), Danny Carter (Donavan Rowe), Michael Campbell. Subs not used - Shay Morgan, Carl Smith, Des Wilkes.
