Coleshill Town 1 v 2 Massey Ferguson

Postby Alan Beckett » Mon Dec 18, 2006 5:46 pm

SATURDAY 16th DECEMBER 2006
MIDLAND COMBINATION PREMIER DIVISION
COLESHILL TOWN 1 v 2 MASSEY FERGUSON
Scorer: Paul Burns.

This match report could be copy and paste from the first meeting between the two sides back in September. Coleshill had the vast majority of possession and far more efforts at goal but Massey took their chances and Coleshill squandered most of theirs and when they did find a way through they were thwarted by an inspired keeping display.

Coleshill are suffering from a massive injury list and soon suspensions will come into play but Manager Mick Beadle is fully aware of the situation and is on the brink of adding some experience to his squad. Not to use that as an excuse for a dismal first half display that had Beadle fuming during the interval. Town had looked tired, lethargic and at times disinterested, making mid table Massey look a half decent side but Coleshill improved after the break and pinned the visitors into their own half for almost the entire second 45 minutes, but failed to add to the score sheet.

Coleshill actually started quite well and should have scored through Raddy Richards, twice, and David Brush but Massey took the lead on 22minutes when the clearly off side Hollis stepped over the ball and Matty Gardener ran from mid field to cleverly round Chris Butler in the Town goal and stroke into the net. It got worse. On 27 mins No11 got to the bye line and chipped Butler and Michael Hollis came in at the far post to head home. Two minutes later the Massey keeper made the first of many fine stops as he kept out Michael Campbell's shot from point blank range. Coleshill edged their way back into the game when Paul Burns headed home a David Brush corner on 32 mins. Massey's version of a whippet raced down the right and cannoned a shot off the bar before James Dance had two shots saved by the keeper with everyone in the ground asking how he had kept them out!

Last week's hero Shay Morgan had to be substituted at half time with a thigh injury but his replacement Carlos McIntosh, turned out to be Coleshill's best player, apart from a glaring miss after a fine run into the opposition box. The keeper pulled off yet another amazing save to deny Campbell and then Brush as Coleshill went in search of an equaliser that never came.

The Non League Paper said "Massey Ferguson produced their best result of the season when they returned from Premier Division leaders Coleshill Town with a shock 2-1 victory but their result at Banner Lane was just as hard to swallow and now Town must pick themselves up to face yet another Coventry side in Copsewood next Saturday."

Team:- Chris Butler, Mark Ward, Josh McPherson, Ryan Gardiner, Rob Ellis, Raddy Richards, David Brush, Paul Burns (Josh Gunter), Michael Campbell, Oluwaseyi Morgan (Carlos McIntosh), James Dance. Subs not used Donavan Rowe, Carl Smith.
