Saturday 22nd September 2007
FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round
Coleshill Town 2 v 2 Bolehall Swifts - After Extra Time
Scorer: Neil Kitching 2.

Sam Chatwin and Richard kavanagh were unavailable so new signing Andrew Sutherland went straight into the starting eleven but fellow signing Matty Robinson took a place on the bench.

Coleshill's record against Bolehall is nothing short of shocking and this game followed the same old pattern. Coleshill had the better of the first quarter hour but fell behind to Swifts first serious attack. From then on the visitors looked comfortable as their no nonsence defence nullified Coleshill's threat until a double substitution edged Town in front. But as usual Bolehall worked extremely hard and deserved to take the game to a replay at their place on Tuesday.

A Danny Carter pull down and shot from 25 yards, a Brush free kick headed wide by Ryan Gardiner and a James Dance and then header both going wide proved that Coleshill were on top but were stunned as Ahmet Bilgimer strode away from the Town defence and shot across Chris Butler and into the net for the lead on 14mins. Coleshill's already depleted defence had to be reshuffled again as Rob Hipkiss went off injured and Kristain Kelsall took his place. Coleshill huffed and puffed but Carter and Campbell looked a shadow of the pair that took apart Barnt Green only two games prior. Swifts defence were organised, and were not shy to hoof the ball when danger loomed. Coleshill still had the better of the play Carter having a shot blocked then a header wide but Swifts were dangerous on the break.Meads crossed for Haywood but the striker headed wide then Meads shot over when well placed then Ryan Gardiner made a great tackle within the 18 yard box to end a move that had started from Swifts own box.
The second half started with a midfield stalemate with few chances. Dance shot over and Josh McPherson headed clear a dangerous cross. Carter had a shot saved with a full length dive from the Swifts keeper but Smith hit back with a turn and shot only just going wide. On 58 mins Manager Carl Adams went for a double substitution, Neil Kitching and Matty Robinson coming on for Carter and Campbell. The move paid off as suddenly the Swifts defence had to earn their corn with the new, more physical pair of forwards. On 68 mins Jake Sammons passed down the channel for the willing run of Robinson. The debut striker cut insaide and crossed to the near post where Kitching rose above the defence and headed into the net for 1-1. No5 shot just wide from fully30 yards but on 72 mins Coleshill took the lead with the same pair involved. A long clearance took an awkward bounce took the ball over the advancing keeper and Robinson nipped in and was pulled down, the assistant referee giving the decisive decision for a pen. Neil Kitching took the kick and sent the keeper the wrong way. Coleshill had the lead for only three minutes as Bolehall floated in a free kick. Ryan Gardiner seemed to head clear well but the ball was lofted back in and Bilgimer got to the ball before Butler to head into the net. It nearly got worse as Bilgimer did the same again this time lobbing the ball past Butler but McPherson got back to desperatley clear off the line. Robinson sent in a stinging shot and Jamie King knocked past the post for the visitors then in the last minute Dance crossed for Kitching but his goalbound shot was blocked at his feet by the Swifts keeper.
There were few opportunities to break the deadlock in extra time with two committed teams closing the game down and they will have to do it all again on Tuesday night.

Team Chris Butler, Andrew Sutherland, Rob Hipkiss (Kristian Kelsall), Ryan Gardiner, Jake Sammons, Josh McPherson, Simon Volante, David Brush, Michael Campbell (Neil Kitching), Danny Carter (Matty Robinson), James Dance. Sub not used Olewaseyi Morgan.
