Midland Combination Premier Division
Saturday 10th November 2007
Meir KA 1 v 6 Coleshill Town
Scorers: Michael Campbell 3, Matty Robinson 2, Simon Volante.

Manager Carl Adams decided it was time to get his boots on but with the game over and done by half time he remained on the bench and left everyone still awaiting his Coleshill debut.

Coleshill started like a house on fire with a very attacking formation and looked dangerous everytime they came forward but Meir had two quick lads up front and did cause a few nervous moments. Both Matty Robinson and James Dance had good chances but both hit their shots over the bar before Town took the lead on 9 mins. Michael Campbell, who has found some real form of late, recieved a knock on from Ryan Scott but the strikers effort from 20 yards looked harmless enough. The home keeper completely misjudged the strike and attempted to control the ball with his foot only to see the ball elude him and snuggle into the far corner. If the 1st goal was a fluke the second was pure class as Dance, Gray, Campbell exchanged passes to slice open the Meir defence and Matty Robinson finished the move with a sweet shot. Scott shot over and Campbell forced a corner as Coleshill continued the dominance but Meir hit back and Chris Butler had to be at his best as he saved a clear effort from Darren Johnson. Butler was involved in Coleshill's third goal as he grabbed a cross and quickly got the ball forward to Brian Gray who fed Campbell who shot home from the edge of the box on 25 mins. Two minutes later Meir reduced the deficit as Johnson got beyond the defence again but fed Shane Reaney who beat Butler with a smart shot. Campbell completed his hat trick with only 38 mins on the clock. He recieved the ball in the box, held his man off, turned and shot, squeezing the ball between the keeper and the post. On 44 mins James Dance floated a free kick into the six yard box and Robinson reacted first to stab home No5.

Ryan Scott was having a good game but had to be substituted at half time due to injury, Laim Taylor the replacement. Coleshill took their foot off the gas a bit in the second half but still had chances to increase the lead. The only chance they took was on 57 mins when Simon Volante struck a screamer from 25 yards that rocketed into the top corner for only his second goal in 50 appearances. Meir had more possession and looked more comfortable at the back as their best player Dean Owen dropped into the back four but although Reaney continued to cause problems with his pace Coleshill always looked in control.

Team:- Chris Butler, Sam Chatwin, Josh McPherson, Richard Kavanagh, Ryan Scott (Liam Taylor), Simon Volants, James Dance (Andy Sutherland), Brian Gray, Michael Campbell, Matty Robinson. Sub not used Carl Adams.
