50 Years Ago 1962/63

Saturday 1st September 1962
Birmingham Youth & Old Boys League, Mercian Division.
Coleshill Town 3 v 3 Hillbrook United
Scorers: Alan Rowley, Arthur Mullard, Jimmy Hillis.
Coleshill Chronicle wrote: The Town were a goal behind at the interval and early in the second half the deficit grew to 3-1. Defensive errors allowed Hillbrook to take command but a good goal from Alan Rowly stemmed the tide and in a grandstand finish Arthur Mullard and Jimmy Hillis netted goals to save a point. The man who did most to wreck Coleshill’s 100% record was the visitors keeper, Peter Nye, who made several top-rate saves.
NB Although we know Coleshill won the first two games we don’t know the score but with 14 goals for and only one against it was two convincing victories.

100 Years Ago 1912/13

Coleshill didn’t start their season until 7th September, away to Atherstone, so we will start to take a look at their results from next week. Town were in the Trent Valley League for this one season. They had been in the Birmingham Youth & Old Boys League for six seasons but decided to give the Tamworth based league a try. War broke out in 1914 and when football re-started for the 1919/20 season Coleshill joined the Sutton & District League.

Depending on the year, it is sometimes very difficult to pick up good information! If you are able to help with facts and figures or even photographs please contact the web site. Many Thanks.
