100 Years Ago 1912/13

Saturday 7th September 1912
Atherstone 9 v 1 Coleshill Town
Coleshill Chronicle Wrote:-
It is not generally known in the district that Coleshill Town FC have joined the Trent Valley League this season and it will be a surprise to many that they commenced with a match at Atherstone on September 7th which ended in a severe defeat for the visitors by 9 goals to 1. Coleshill were poorly represented in this game but even then it is stated that the homesters score ought not to have been so big. It is not necessary to enlarge on this point; sufficient to say that a better team will be placed in the field on Saturday 14th September when the South Staffordshire Regiment will oppose the locals on the Parkfield ground. (Now the Memorial Park).
