Six-Goal Coleshill Keep Fans Happy
Coleshill Town supporters where soon put in a happy frame of mind when their team romped into a 2-0 lead after only 20mins play but by half time Olton had scored twice to make it 2-2. The smiles and cheers returned in the second half and at the close Coleshill were comfortable winners. Star of the victory was Colin Radburn who scored a hat-trick and must be regarded as a strong contender for a place in the Youths and Old Boys League Campbell Orr Shield side. Coleshill opened their account after 10mins. Radburn putting in a shot that gave goalkeeper Hobbs no chance. They increased their lead after 20mins, Colin Reynolds placing the ball into the top of the net from 15 yards range. Whitticase scored a surprise goal for Olton when his shot from 20yards passed over the head of the advancing Cooper into the net. Loose covering in the home defence cost them another Olton goal in the 44th minute. Gazey going through to beat Cooper. Olton held Coleshill for the first 15 mins of the second half but saw the home side retake the lead in the 60th minute, McDonald blazing in a great shot. Radburn now came into his own, leading the Olton defence a merry dance. A foul on Reynolds gave Coleshill a penalty and Radburn made no mistake with the spot kick. He completed his hat-trick in the 78th min after beating three defenders. McDonald got Coleshill’s sixth goal. Radburn and Reynolds were the pick of the winners front line. Hobbs and Collett were best for Olton.
Coleshill Team: Cooper, Stathem, Meehan, Curtis, Pugh, McDonald, Moore, Radburn, Mullard, Reynolds, Anderson.
