Writes the Coleshill Herald

COLESHILL Town's Barry Fitzharris has been handed a six-month ban which will effectively rule him out for the rest of the Midland Alliance season.

Fitzharris has been banned for violent conduct after kicking the ball at the referee as his side were beaten by Old Wulfrunians in the FA Cup in August.

The ball struck the official in the face leading to Fitzharris' dismissal and subsequent ban.

Fitzharris will be out of action until April 14 after the lengthy punishment was upheld after a Coleshill appeal.

Chairman Paul Billing said: "From a club point of view, you can't condone the incident but we appealed the length of the ban.

"Unfortunately, at this level, you have very little comeback and we have been punished.

"We just have to accept the decision now.

"It's disappointing because Barry is a really nice lad.

"He just had a red mist on a difficult night and it was just something that happened in the heat of the moment.

"It's tough for us and for Barry. We'll keep him involved in training and wait for his return."

Coleshill have further suspension problems with Joe Lyng and Jason Ramsey ruled out of this weekend's trip to Westfields.

Former manager Jason Lanns has also been linked with a move away from Coleshill with Bolehall Swifts interested in signing him as a player.

Coleshill go into the game on the back of a 4-0 thumping at fellow strugglers Heath Hayes but Billing said: "To be fair, they are a better side than their league position suggests. It's a false position.

"They had a lot of players back from injury and looked a good side.

"That said, we gifted them their goals and defended badly overall."
