Today we entertain Stratford and welcome back their manager Carl Adams, the man who finally lifted Coleshill out of the Midland Combination after a 33 year stay. Welcome Carl!
Carl is working his magic at Stratford as they currently sit at the top of the Alliance, 11 points clear of second placed Stourport. Stratford have for many years had ambitions of going further than the Alliance and many managers, with healthy budgets, have tried and failed, but at long last it looks like they will achieve their goal as long as they hold their nerve! Only time will tell!

Stratford joined the Midland Combination in 1954 and remained there, apart from a couple of brief spells in the Birmingham & District League and the Hellenic League, until they became founder members of the Midland Alliance in 1994 having finished 9th in the Com. So since Coleshill were promoted to the Com's top division in 1975, the two sides met at this level for 14 seasons, and also throw in a couple of cup tie's.

Since the two teams came together in the Alliance the results have been:

Stratford Town 3 v 1 Coleshill Town

The further I go back the poorer my records but this is what I've got from the Midland Combination days: Coleshill score first and scorers given where available:

1992/93 Home 3-0 Away 1-2 Casey
1991/92 Home 0-0 Away 2-2 Bradley, Whipps.
1990/91 Home 2-0 Rosborough, Taylor. Away 2-2 Timms, Taylor.
1989/90 Home 1-0 Brady Away 0-1.
1988/89 Home 0-5 Away 1-1 Melvin.
1987/88 Home 1-3 Away 1-1
1986/87 Home ??? Away ???
1985/86 Home 1-0 Howkins Away 0-0
1984/85 Home 2-1 Newton, Smith Away ???
1983/84 Home 2-0 Away 2-1 Duddy, Allen.
1982/83 Home ??? Away 1-0
1981/82 Home ??? Away ???
1977/78 Home ??? Away ???

Midland Combination Challenge Cup 1988/89 Coleshill lost 0-1.
FA Vase 1982 Coleshill lost 1-2.
New information 11.1.2013 Beat Stratford at Home in the Mid Com Challenge Cup 3rd round 2-1 to get to the Semi Final. No date or scorers.

P34 W10 D6 L10 F30 A39
8 games with no records available.
P5 W1 D0 L4 F4 12
All Time
P39 W11 D6 L14 F34 A51

So, honours pretty even in league games over the years. Coleshill did better in the Mid Com years but since the two sides have been in the Alliance Stratford have pretty much dominated except for the 2008/09 season when Coleshill did the double. The secret though, is to not play them in cup competitions, as we always lose! (New info won once 1984)
