Highgate challenge is a family affair for Coleshill Town boss
Writes the Coleshill Herald

COLESHILL Town's Midland Alliance basement battle at Highate United on Saturday is set to be a real family affair for manager Paul Casey.

The boss' cousin Oliver plays at right back for Highgate, who are currently 20th in the table, meaning there could be plenty of banter flying around this weekend.

The Coleshill boss, whose side are 19th in the league, said: "It's definitely a family affair and so adds a bit of spice from my point of view.

"Oliver's a good lad, a very good young player.

"He's only 21 and that's the route that Highgate have gone down.

"They have a young squad but they are lads with a very good pedigree and we are expecting a very tough game this weekend.

"Hopefully we can come out on top and pull further clear of the bottom three."

Aaron Hughes (ankle) is doubtful while Dominic Reece is suspended. Cameron Jones (dead leg) should be fit.

Coleshill go into the game full of confidence after a 2-1 win over Kirby and Casey believes his side can build on that display.

"We haven't had many games of late due to the weather but I think that has helped us in some ways," he said.

"It's been like a pre-season. Although we haven't been able to work on the fitness side of things, the lads have used the time to get to know each other.

"We have been able to get the new lads to mix with the old and the players have formed a togetherness in the dressing room.

"There's a good spirit in the camp and I think that will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.

"We have got some big games coming up now but I am looking forward to it.

"I think we are improving all the time and we have definitely turned a bit of a corner, in my opinion.

"With 19 games to go, I think we are capable of stringing some good results together."

Casey, whose side host Coventry Sphinx on Tuesday, is looking to sign Chasetown left winger Connor Leek today.

Striker Danny Carter, meanwhile, has joined Pilkington.

"Danny felt that he needed a fresh challenge and I think we both agreed really," said Casey. "We wish him all the best."

Coleshill have appointed Kieren McArdle as their new youth team manager.

Boss Paul Casey, meanwhile, is still looking for a first team, coach. Call 07877 735133 for more details.
