50 Years Ago 1962/63

Saturday 16th February 1963
Birmingham Youth & Old Boys League, Mercian Division
A period of seriously bad weather set in. Firstly snow, then frost and finally waterlogged pitches meant a period of 12 weeks past, from the 22nd December, before Coleshill played again. The papers said that this was the worst winter for 200 years.

Saturday 15th February 1913
Chapel End Cup Round 2
Coleshil 5 v 0 Amington Rovers
Scorers: No details.
Coleshill Chronicle Wrote:
These teams met on the Parkfield Road ground, on Saturday afternoon, in the second round of the Chapel End Cup. Coleshill had previously defeated the Rovers in both league matches and again had no difficulty in proving their superiority. Coleshill kicked down hill during the first half and at the interval were leading by three goals to nil. In the second half Coleshill continued to have the best of the game and scored two more goals. Amington tried hard to score but were completely outplayed and were defeated by five goals to nil.
Team: Goal; Hinton, backs; Neville and Grout, half backs; Freeman, Clare, and Clive, forwards; Nichols, Wright, Harbage, Finlan and Williams.
Coleshill are drawn against Atherstone Town in the Semi Final of the Chapel End Cup and the match will be played at Hartshill on March 15th. If the local team do not meet with an accident to any of their players, they ought to get into the final. There is no doubt that Coleshill have never put a stonger team on the field that the one at present and they are anxious to have one or two cups at headquarters before the close of the season. Coleshill play Wilnecote Trinity Saturday 22nd February in the Semi Final of the Coleshill Charity Cup at the Parkfield Road ground, Coleshill. Coleshill ought to qualify for the final as they have already easily defeated the Trinity at Wilnecote in a league match. It is hoped there will be a good attendance to witness the game, which is timed to commence at 3.15pm.
