WE MEET AGAIN – LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY

Coleshill have only played Loughborough University nine times before. Twice in Town's Midland Combination championship winning season, the Uni having been promoted from nowhere to the Com that year and four seasons, including the present one, in the Midland Alliance.

They have the pick of the fit, young, promising students throughout the country as Loughborough is far and away the best sporting university in the country. So when you play them you know they will be well organised and very, very fit as they train each day. Their problem of course is that the personnel change year on year but there is always a crop of talented kids coming through the ranks.

After a first season 13th placed finish, the Uni have consistently finished in the top six of the Alliance and last season they were fifth come the season end. This year they are currently 4th with 23 wins and 12 defeats. They have in their ranks the highest league goal scorer in Daniel Nti (34), but more impressively they have conceded fewer goals, 36, than anyone else in the league and 8 fewer than run away champions Stratford Town.

Coleshill put in a magnificent performance back in February to earn a 0-0 draw at the Universities new home, an impressive stadium that makes you think Loughborough University are ambitious and I would not be surprised if they win the Alliance in the next few years.

Coleshill secured their status in the Midland Alliance on Tuesday night with a 2-1 win over Heath Hayes, and the Uni can't go up or down from their fine 4th place finish regardless of the result, so realistically, nothing to play for. Coleshill could climb one more place with a win and I'm sure manager Paul Casey will want to go out on a high and a feel good factor going into next season.

Honours are very even between the two sides with three wins each and three draws but Uni have scored one more goal than Town!
