This Week 2013/14 No1
25, 50 and 100 Years Ago

1988/1989
Coleshill’s season began on Saturday 13th August away to Solihull Borough. They were competing in the Midland Combination Premier Division. Harry “H” Davies was chairman and his wife Sheila secretary. The club were sponsored by Walker Homes, a local building firm, with David Walker taking the role of President. Town had finished in 7th place the season previous, Racing Club Warwick won the league, with a record of P36 W16 D10 L10 F61 A41 and 42 points. Manager Keith Shrimpton moved on just weeks before the start of the season and was replaced by Ron Mason, ex Sutton Coldfield Town player and Knowle manager. Senior player Brian Jordan became assistant manager later in the season.
The squad included: Mazier Manir (GK), John Hall, Colin Cooke, Tony Gormley, Paul Brady, Neil Bradley, Herman Wilson, Steve Howkins, Brian Jordan, Steve D’Arcy, John Taylor, Carl Melvin, Paul Mulholland, Rory Cash, Chris Cotton.

1963/1964
Coleshill start their season on Saturday 31st August at home to Olton. They competed in the Birmingham Youths’ And Old Boys A.F.A League, Mercian Division, and played their home games at the Memorial Park. Last season they finished in third place with a record of P28 W17 D4 L7 F87 A51 Points 38. Their great rivals Coleshill Hall Hospital won the league without losing a game whilst scoring 127 goals and decided to move up to the Worcester Combination, later to become the midland Combination.

1913/1914
Coleshill didn’t start their season until 6th September. Last season they were in the Trent Valley League but the committee decided to return to the Birmingham Youth and Old Boys Football League and were put in the Suburban Division (Div 2). They also ran a Reserve team that was put in Division 3. The first game was at home to Lyons Athletic. As the football season didn’t start for a month, how about a cricket score. Coleshill Cricket Club beat Sutton Town CC this week in 1913. Coleshill scored 174 and Sutton 77. J.Arnold top scored for Coleshill with 35 and Nichols took five wickets. J.Nichols was a star of Coleshill football team, I suspect this is the same person.
