Saturday 12th November 1988
Midland Combination Premier
Knowle 1 v 2 Coleshill Town
Scorer: Paul Mulholland 2.
SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Two second half goals from former Knowle player Mullholland helped Coleshill to their first away victory of the season, and moved them from the foot of the table. In the first half Knowle should have taken the lead in the 30th minute when Dumbar shot wide of the post after being put through by Whittingham. Five minutes before the break Dunbar again went close after Whittingham had engineered another fine move. Coleshill took the lead after 55 minutes when Mullholland scored with a 25 yard drive, but Knowle equalised 20 minutes later when a cross from Byrne allowed Wooldridge to tap home from close range. The winning goal came 10 minutes from time from a 20 yard drive by Mullholland.

Coleshill Town 2 v 2 Hurley United
Scorers: Jimmy Hillias, Arthur Mullard.
Coleshill Chronicle Wrote: Coleshill Town, looking for a change of fortune, found Hurley youngsters a sprightly bunch and were on the mark with a goal after five minutes. Jimmy Hillias shot the Town’s reply but at half time a goal from the home leader set them back 2-1. Arthur Mullard, who I hear is waiting to enter hospital for an operation on a troublesome knee, was switched from full back to lead the Town attack. The idea soon paid off and his goal enabled the Town to replay.
