Coleshill Chronicle Wrote:
Point Taken Away By Spot Kick
There was little to choose between these two evenly matched Mercian League sides but when the Town captured the lead, victory appeared assured but a penalty scored by Rovers in the last eight minutes robbed them of a point. The home side enjoyed much of the opening play and looked certain to take charge of an early lead when centre forward Moseley slipped by the visitors centre half but with only the keeper, Oxford, to beat, he shot over the bar. Hill Rovers improved and at half time had emerged in the lead but the goal netted by outside left Perry looked suspiciously off-side. The second period had only been in progress for 10 minutes when the Town equalised choose - Moseley making amends for previous misses by cracking home a penalty. Coleshill now looked much more comfortable and were rewarded with the lead after 63 minutes, Moseley beating Oxford with a well placed shot. This goal kept Town in front until eight minutes from time when Moore handled the ball in the area. Friear giving Cooper no chance from the spot-kick. Moore, who returned to the Town side after a moth’s absence showed up well and hardly deserved to be directly responsible for the loss of a point. Roger Dainty at left back also gave a stout performance.
