Kings Heath did their lowly league position a power of good and opened a seven point gap over relegation threatened Coleshill. The visitors however had the better of the first half and were denied by two fine saves by Butt in the home goal. Gray had the best chance for Kings Heath but shot over when well placed. In the second period the home side started to pressure the visitors defence. In the 55th minute a fine cross by Hamilton fell to Clarke who opened the scoring. Five minutes later a fine 30 yard effort from Brown put Kings two up. Coleshill pulled a goal back after 67 minutes through Wilson. Sheehan restored Kings two goal advantage by slotting the ball home from the penalty spot following a foul by Coleshill keeper Lutwyche. In the 82nd minute Seaton added Kings Heath’s fourth to gain a thoroughly deserved and welcome win for the home side.

Sherwood Lucky To Take Both Points
Sherwood Rangers, who are being freely tipped as “new” champions of the Mercian League, were lucky to improve their prospects by beating Coleshill Town, the decider coming during the final few minutes of the game. The Town opened on a bright note and were unlucky to see a cracking drive from Letts crash against the underside of the Sherwood crossbar, while Moseley also sent shots inches wide. Sherwood slowly settled down and took the lead in the 20th minute – Harold Tune, the Town’s new keeper from Aston, being beaten by King. The Town’s early promise wilted away and King the Sherwood inside forward spede through to release a shot that had Tune beaten all the way, to give the visitors a 2-0 interval lead. Coleshill resumed with several speedy raids on the Sherwood goal and won several corners. One, a perfect inswinger, bringing a brilliant save from Ealing. Sherwood’s defence was now under heavy pressure and it finally cracked when Jimmy Hellis scored in the 60th minute. Coleshill, scenting further success, blazed the trail for further goals and were rewarded when Moseley was on hand to force White’s centre into the net. With the final few minutes ticking away a draw looked certain but up popped Colin Hill to oblige Sherwood with the winner and two very lucky points. Although beaten, the Town’s play was most encouraging. With Moseley showing settled form at centre forward, a marked improvement in their Mercian League position should follow.
