MATCH PREVIEW
Midlands Football Alliance: Coleshill Town vs. Causeway United
Date: Saturday 15th March 2014 KO: 15:00PM
Coleshill Town became the most in form side in the entire Midlands Football Alliance last weekend following their valiant 2-1 away success over lowly Heath Hayes. Following four wins on the bounce, with the last two being on the road, The Colemen will look to entertain their fans this weekend as they look to defeat Causeway United in their quest to climb the league table.
Despite giving away a surprising lead to Heath Hayes last weekend, Coleshill Town fought with the hearts on their sleeves to provide their loyal travelling fans the kind of “blood, sweat and tears” performance they deserve. Resilient goals from Danny Douglas and Dean Rathbone ensured The Colemen took home the three points following their perseverance as they collected their fifth win in six games.
Free scoring Causeway United will look to solidify and tighten their grip on fifth place as they look to overturn Coleshill Town for the second time this season. The Halesowen based outfit reigned victorious 1-0 back in November and a second victory against the division’s in form side would stop the Colemen unexpectedly in their tracks. Causeway have been unleashing havoc in recent weeks. The Blues have disposed of Dunkirk 6-1, Heath Hayes 8-1 as well as the likes of Gornal Athletic and Rocester earlier in the season. Andy Mole’s men will definitely be a force to be reckoned with this coming weekend.
Despite losing their previous encounter against Causeway United, Coleshill Town have performed superbly as of late. Since their defeat to the Blues, in all competitions, Coleshill Town have won 11 of their previous 15 games, losing just 4. In fact, Paul Casey’s side have lost just 1 league game in the entirerty of 2014. Such a successful run also means Coleshill have performed resiliently at the back. They now have the division’s second best defensive record conceding just 33 goals in the league all season. However, after being awarded 3 penalties in their last 3 games with Matt Brown taking them all, Coleshill’s leading scorer with 17 goals has missed 2 of them and will look to redeem himself this weekend by getting on the score sheet again. Their opponents Causeway have been on fire as of late and such convincing wins over Dunkirk and Heath Hayes means they have become the division’s most feared attackers with 78 goals in the league.
Coleshill Town’s Paul Casey has no fresh injury concerns this weekend. Declan Kirby remains out for the season with a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle. Theo Millwood and Ellison Porter may also be handed their debuts this weekend.
