WE MEET AGAIN – SHEPSHED DYNAMO
Coleshill had never played Shepshed Dynamo before the game at The Dovecot back in October but Dynamo only formed in 1994 and before that the football club was known as Shepshed Charterhouse or Shepshed Albion! Coleshill Town and Shepshed Albion were in the same league, the Midland Combination Premier, for one season only, 1993/94! My records for that particular season are vague! I have the results but little else. Town won the game at Pack Meadow 3-0 and Albion won the reverse fixture 3-1. The Manager that year was Bob Nimmons and during that time Coleshill played their 1000th game in the Midland Combination. Some names that played that year included: Jimmy Stafford, Colin Cooke, Jamie Harden, Steve Whipps, Errol Black, Neil Hughes and Marcus Macdonald.
Shepshed have been in the Alliance before, in fact they were founder members in their first year as Dynamo and won the title the following year to gain promotion to the Southern League. They remained at Level 4 for sixteen years, although they were moved to the Northern League, before relegation to the United Counties League last season and then another sideways move to the Alliance for the start of this season.
Dynamo currently lie in 15th place with 10 wins from their 33 games and 25 points behind Coleshill.

Report by Paul Billing
A game that started very evenly with both teams competing for every ball and trying to put the other team on to the back foot, Shepshed were the first to make a mistake when they tried to play the ball through the defence but Barry Fitzharris nicked the ball to play in Chris Gumery who had an age to poise himself before picking his spot and placing the ball calmly past Thacker in the Dynamo goal. Chris Lloyd had a good shot saved by Thacker and Jake Murral saw his long range effort easily saved. Dynamo had a shot over the bar from close range then a cross fizz along the goal but nobody could get a touch. Barry Fitzharris saw a good shot well saved to end the first half.
The second half started the same way as the first half with Coleshill the dominant force Dean Rathbone had a shot saved by Thacker, Chris Lloyd saw his effort saved by Thacker. Shepshed did hit the post but it was completely against the run of play and it wasn’t long before Coleshill doubled their lead with Chris Lloyd scoring with a fine effort in off the post, there was then a most bizarre incident when Chris Lloyd was tumbled in the penalty area the referee instantly gave the spot kick then after long protests by the Shepshed players and after consulting with the linesman he changed his decision to a free kick which then raised the question how did the player stay on the pitch. The resultant free kick was well saved by Thacker, Coleshill got their third again through Lloyd, shooting in from a mêlée in the box. The game was all but over and when Matt Brown broke free in the penalty area he calmly flicked it over the keeper to secure all three points. Shepshed got a late consolation but this was a very strong performance from Coleshill.
