MATCH PREVIEW

Midland Football Alliance: Coleshill Town vs. Tipton Town

Date: Saturday 26th April 2014 KO: 15:00PM

Venue: Pack Meadow

Finally, the last day of the Midland Football Alliance season has arrived. In front of what is sure to be an upbeat crowd at Pack Meadow, Coleshill Town will play host to mid-table Tipton Town. Both sides have surprised many neutrals and silenced many critics so far. Coleshill are set to achieve one of the highest league finishes in their history whilst Tipton Town have reached the final of League Cup. The league title may have been decided and it may be the final fixture of what had been an eventful and exciting season however both of these teams will want to finish this campaign on a high note.

Coleshill Town recovered from a 5-1 wake up call last weekend with a 6-0 victory over Coventry Sphinx in mid-week. This featured braces for Matt Brown, Chris Lloyd and Ryan Nash. This win kept the Colemen in the race for 3rd amongst rivals Highgate United and Quorn. With memories of that 9 game winning streak now beginning to fade, the home side will want to finish this season strong.

Their opponents this weekend, Tipton Town, held league champions Tividale to a 1-1 draw in mid-week. This brought Town onto 63 points and within a single point of 8th place Causeway United despite them being down in 11th place. However, knowing that they have a League Cup final just around the corner, manager Ian Rowe May opt to rotate his side slightly.

When these two teams last met at the Tipton Sports Academy just a little under three weeks ago, they battled out a goalless draw. This ended a run of 2 games without a victory for Coleshill, including a defeat to bottom club Heather St. John’s, having won 9 in a row prior to this. The Colemen also hadn’t lost a game at home since September 14th prior to losing 5-1 last weekend to AFC Wulfrunians. One man in form currently is striker Matt Brown who has hit the back of the net on 23 different occasions this season. He will be eager to add to this in this season finale.

Tipton Town held league champions Tividale to a 1-1 draw in mid-week at home. This result was considered almost as impressive as their victory over Highgate United a couple of games ago as they battled out a valiant 2-0 win. However, in the league, Highgate United is the only side Tipton Town have managed to defeat in their last 15 games, even if they did achieve the double over the high flyers. Tipton have also only won 1 of their last 8 away fixtures with their last success coming on March 29th over Highgate United.

Paul Casey will be forced to rotate his squad due to a couple of notable absentees. Firstly, Luke Edwards remains suspended after receiving a red card a couple of weeks ago. Jack Hulin is also out with an injury and joins long term absentee Declan Kirby on the sidelines who is still recovering from a dislocated ankle and a fractured fibula.

MATTY ADAMS SAYS: 2-0
