COLESHILL Town chairman Paul Billing hailed the efforts of the squad as their FA Cup dreams came to an end last weekend.

Now he wants them to refocus on their league ambitions as they prepare to host second-placed Westfields on Saturday.

Coleshill slipped to a 2-1 home defeat to Barwell in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday, having taken the lead.

Billing said: "The lads did themselves proud to be honest against higher league opposition.

"We were the better team in the first 45 minutes but we didn't take enough of our chances. They stepped it up after that and got the two goals and it was probably a fair result in the end.

"But it was a great day for us. We progressed to where we expected to and anything else would have been a bonus.

"Now we need to pick ourselves back up again and start focus on the league."

As a result of their involvement in the FA Cup, Coleshill have seen themselves slip to eighth in the Midland Football League Premier.

They do have games in hand though and Billing said: "We have two games in hand and, though it's a big ask to win them both, if we do, we will be joint top.

"So the incentive is certainly there for us and we need to refocus on the league.

"Westfields have started well and it will be a tough challenge for us this weekend.

"They are a decent side and play well away from home too. They will come here and work their socks off.

"So we have to make sure we are raring to go ahead for the clash."
