COLESHILL Town boss Paul Casey refused to be downbeat after his side's impressive run of form was halted by Stourport on Tuesday night.

Coleshill slipped to a 1-0 away defeat in the Midland League Premier Division clash, ending a run of four straight wins.

Casey said: "I don't like losing games of football but we are doing well.

"We are strong, resolute and hard to beat.

"We are creating a lot of chances too. On Tuesday night, against Stourport, we should have won the game.

"We created enough chances in the six-yard box to win the clash but we just kept missing the target.

"But we are still developing as a side. We are third in the table with a better goal difference than Long Eaton, who are second.

"So we are in a healthy place right now and it's certainly going to be an exciting season for us.

"We are going in the right direction but, of course, there is still work to be done and we haven't got the formula completely right yet."

Casey, whose side travel to AFC Wulfrunians on Saturday, has been boosted by the re-signing of striker Matt Brown and the Coleshill boss believes he can play a massive part this season.

"Matt's back and is not firing on all cylinders yet because he hasn't played a lot of football this season," said Casey.

"When he gets his mojo back he will be massive for us. His partnership with Shane Benjamin could be a huge factor for us and they will be a real handful together."

Meanwhile, Casey is a happy man after adding the experience of Ross Thorpe to his coaching team.

Former Alvechurch manager Thorpe, who has also had spells at Rushall, Hednesford and Boldmere among other clubs, joined the Colemen this week.

Thorpe will have a dual role at the club, coaching the first team but also taking charge of the under-18s squad.

Casey said: "I worked with Ross at Hednesford and Boldmere and I know what he can bring. He's a top-drawer coach."
