Saturday 11th November 1989
Scoreline Midland Combination Premier
Coleshill Town 0 v 2 Hinckley
SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Two goals in a six minute spell from Bobby Moore and Duane Martin just after the break earned Hinckley the points to send Coleshill crashing to their first home league defeat since August. Coleshill almost took the lead in the tenth minute when Neil Brady took advantage of good work by John Clayton before hitting a 15 yard shot which was well saved by keeper Andrew Wylly. The home side continued to dominate and just before the break a cross by Greg Bennett was headed just over the bar by Steve Williams from ten yards. Hinckley took the lead in the 48th minute when Moore picked up a through ball from Carl Pears before firing home from 15 yards. Within six minutes Hinckley increased their lead when Steven Bradshaw crossed to the unmarked Martin, who neatly controlled the ball before slotting home from an acute angle. Coleshill fought hard in the closing stages. First Clayton hit the side netting from close range and then Bradley had a 25 yard effort brilliantly tipped over the bar by Hinckley keeper Wylly.
