Scoreline Midland Combination Premier
West Midlands Police 1 v 1 Coleshill Town

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
In a sometimes ill-tempered game Coleshill Town earned a share of the points. The visitors’ keeper kept them in the game in the second half with three fine saves. The home side took the lead in the 30th minute when Benn Small latched onto a header from Gary Davison. He raced into the area and found Gary Ingram who slid the ball home. Coleshill levelled the score a minute before the break with a Chris Birch header. N.B. The goal was in fact awarded to Jamie Harden.

COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
Middleton On The Mark With Three
A hat-trick from inside right Roy Middleton helped Coleshill Town is their search for league points on Saturday when they carried themselves further from the bottom of the table with a 4-3 success over Elms Close Rangers. In the last few matches Coleshill have started with a burst of energy as they did again against Elms Close with the forwards giving the home defence a testing time. But their neatly carved approach work went unrewarded and it was against the run of play that Elms took the lead in the 18th minute through inside right Alan Haywood. This goal tended to put new life into the Rangers forwards and goalkeeper Cooper had to risk life and limb to prevent any further success. Five minutes before the interval the Town equalised. Moving the ball into the Elms Close half of the field they forced one of their rare corners and Ian Ewan’s kick was nodded home by Middleton. More composed, Coleshill took the lead with a minute to go to the interval when a hefty defensive clearance by Brian Mathews sent centre forward Paddy Murray through to score. The second half was hardly 60 seconds old when Elms Close drew level. Slack marking in defence allowed Haywood through and he eagerly accepted his chance. But Coleshill were not ruffled. They regained the lead and then went further ahead with Middleton goals in the 58th and 72nd minutes to provide him with a fine hat-trick. An unlucky stumble by centre half Geoff Mathews gave Elms Close their third, with Haydock joining Middleton in the hat-trick ranks.
