Casey: 'Coleshill Town had to dig deep'
Writes the Coleshill Herald

COLESHILL Town boss Paul Casey watched his side dig deep to secure three more valuable points towards their Midland Premier title bid on Saturday but admitted tiredness nearly took its toll.

The Colemen ground out a 2-1 win over Brocton to move to within three points of leaders Lye.

But Casey admitted: "We had extra time and penalties in midweek against Rushall and I think it took its toll a bit.

"We looked a bit exhausted if I am being honest. I thought that showed.

"We didn't pass the ball as well as we can and it was scrappy.

"Brocton played the better football, although they didn't hurt us.

"I thought it was a game that had draw written all over it. They deserved something from the game but we got the result, which was the main thing. You just take the victory every day of the week.

"It was the worst performance that we have put in for a while though."

Casey, meanwhile, is relishing the chance to take on Birmingham City.

Coleshill have landed a plum home draw with Blues in the semi-final of the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Casey said: "Hopefully we will get a decent crowd for the Blues game. It should be a great night for us."

The semi-final will be played on Tuesday, March 10 (kick off 7.45pm).
