Midland Combination Premier
Evesham United 5 v 1 Coleshill Town
Scorer: Ian Paul
Coleshill Team: Civil, Bishop, Moore, Smith, Davis, Duddy, Clarke, Paul, Williams, Harris, Usher. Sub Wright.
THE COLESHILL HERALD WROTE:
A solitary goal by Ian Paul was all Coleshill had to show for their visit to in-form Evesham. Coleshill were always out played by the Worcestershire side, whose striker Micky Brennan scored a hat-trick to cap off a miserable day for Keith Shrimpton's men. Ian Paul's second half goal gave Coleshill a glint of hope before Jimmy Organ rattled in the fifth goal that gave Evesham a handsome victory.
THE SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE:
Three goal Micky Brennan led the onslaught taking his tally to five in three games. Brennan got his first after 17mins and completed his hat trick with two in 4mins early in the second half. United were two up at half time Martin Oakley getting a good goal in the 38th min with a 12 yard drive. Ian Paul pulled one back for Coleshill before Jimmy Organ rounded off a good performance with a well taken goal.
THE ARGUS WROTEOn the 17th August
Micky Brennan looked the Evesham dangerman early on and twice Mark Civil dived to snatch the ball from his feet. At the other end Ray Usher was close with a header inches wide of the far post. A good run by Paul Tustin set up a goal for Brennan after 17mins, his header catching Civil flat footed. Evesham's second goal after 36mins was a fine effort by Martin Oakley who hit the ball past Civil from 12 yards. Dave Packwood saved at the feet of Mick Duddy and did well to get a hand onto a header from the same player but Evesham were generally on top Half Time Evesham 2 - 0 Coleshill Town.
And then on the 24th August. THE ARGUS WROTE
Another player to reach the same total (5) was Evesham's Micky Brennan. Since joining Evesham he has really found his way to goal and against Coleshill he was Evesham's hat trick hero in a convincing 5-1 win. Evesham were unlucky to lose keeper David Packwood which resulted in Ian Paul slotting into goal.
Coleshill travelled to Smethwick Highfield (Later Sandwell Borough) on Wednesday 21st August and came back with a 2-1 win, their first of the season. No details of scorers.
And then were at home to Northfield Town on the saturday 24th August.
Record so far:
