COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
Owing to the late arrival of the visitors this match on Saturday last, at Coleshill, was not finished. The homesters put a good side on the field, practically the full team except E. Sullivan, whose place was taken by J. A. Nichols.
It was about 3.45pm when Coleshill kicked off down the slope and it was soon evident that the game was going to be a very one-side affair. Watkins sent in agood centre and Wright opened the scoring. Soon after the same player notched two more, the first from a capital centre by Nichols and the second from one by Williams. Then Clarke ran through and scored No4. The visitors tried hard to get down in the Coleshill goal, but Caswell and Shaw were too much for them and Nichols, running down the right, kicked across to Williams, who scored with a lovely shot. Nichols helped himself to No6, Lewis to No7 and before the interval, Nichols and Watkins further increased the score. At half time the play stood at 9 goals to nil.
Darkness was now coming on, but Coleshill made up their score to a dozen by the aid of Lewis, Watkins, and Clive and then the referee stopped the game at the score: Coleshill 12 Dosthill nil.
Coleshill Team: Goal: Humphries, Backs: Shaw and Caswell, Half Backs: Clarke, Clare (captain) and Clive, Forwards: Nichols, Watkins, Wright, Lewis and Williams.
Referee Mr W. Richardson of Fazeley.
The game was the most one-side that has been witnessed at Coleshill. What a marvellous goal average the Club now have. In all matches 72 goals to 14, while in Cup ties alone it is 44 goals to 4.
Today, Saturday, Coleshill will undoubtedly be extended, for they meet Chapel End United at Coleshill in the 3rd round of the Birmingham Junior Cup. All will remember the game Chapel End gave us last season when we just beat them after a hard fight by one goal to nil. Unfortunately, Coleshill will be without Sullivan but we are lucky to be able to fall back on J.A. Nichols to fill his place. On Saturday next, Coleshill visit Picadilly in the Polesworth Cup.
