SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Highgate United manager Les Healey was far from happy after his side were thumped 5-1 at home by Coleshill Town, and according to Healey, it was the club's senior players who let the side down. Teenage sustitute Dave Cameron scored Highgate's goal but it was bearly a consolation as the visitors chalked up five through John Johnson and two apeice for Jimmy Stafford and Jason Phillips.

COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
Coleshill v Kingsbury Athletic
These teams met at Kingsbury on Saturday last to see which should have the honour of figuring in the second round of the Polesworth Cup. The ground was in a ver bad condition owing to a fall of snow and good football was out of the question. Both teams were strongly represented but when the game started it was clearly seen there was too be only one team in the fixture, and that was the "Piccadillies". They adapted themselves to the state of the going, kept the game open, and went for the ball with that grim determination that showed they meant business. In these points undoubtedly lay the secret of their success. In the first half they scored 6 goals to Coleshill's 1.
Play was more even in the second half but eventually Kingsbury won easily by 7 goals to 1.
To account for such a defeat is absolutely beyond my ability. The ball was kept in the centre of the field too much and the wing men were practically spectators. This has been the failing from the commencement of the season. They either can't or won't feed the wings. However, I will ask you to "wait and see".
Today, Saturday, Coleshill meet Amington Rovers at Coleshill in the 2nd round of the Wilnecote Cup. Kick Off 2.30 prompt. The Coleshill team will differ in two instances from that which fialed last week at Kingsbury. Whorton, from Saltley, takes tha place of Shaw at right back, as Shaw unfortunately met with an accident last week, and Lewis is given a rest from the forward line.
"FORWARD"

"I Hear"
That the floods during the present week have seriously handicapped the inhabitants of the surrounding villages.
That on Monday night Coleshill was practically an island.
That the Coleshill FC are holding a whist drive shortly
That the result of the £5 ballot will be declared on the Coleshill football field on December 27th.
That the ballot result and Yardley United ought to be a good draw on Christmas Tuesday.
That Amington Rovers will play Coleshill in the second round of the Wilnecote Charity Cup on Saturday next and that good spirit should be witnessed.
