Aston Villa Shield Replay
Coleshill Town 4 v 0 Coleshill British Legion
Scorers: Smith, Reynolds, Beavans 2.
COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
TOWN WAITED TEN YEARS FOR REVENGE
Although the Legion had the edge in the first half, they never recovered after the Town scored two early second half goals in the Aston Villa Shield replay.
A strong breeze favoured the Legion in the opening half and at times their attacks looked dangerous but generally petered out when the final effort was made.
Shots were blocked by Town defenders and anything that reached their goalkeeper was safely dealt with.
At the other end, the Town made headway with the through ball and their nippy forwards worried the Legion defence quite a bit, Fitt, their goalkeeper, was frequently called upon but never looked in trouble despite one or two exciting scimmages in the goal area.
The Legion did get the ball into the net but an unlucky handling infringement robbed them of the goal, so it was a blank score sheet at half-time.
UNCHANGED
On resuming the Town went into the lead after 10mins when centre forward Smith went through almost unchallenged to score with a well placed shot.
Five minutes later Reynolds got their second goal, a fine cross shot giving Fitt no chance.
The Legion defence was now less certain of themselves and lacked proper cover. As a result a further simple goal from Beavans almost sealed their fate.
Spasmodic raids by the Legion forwards saw the Town defence fully stretched but able to keep a clean score sheet in the end.
The Town's fourth goal came from a neat corner from Beavans.
This win avenged the Town's defeat in the semi-final of the Coleshill Charity Cup 10 years ago.

Tamworth Nursing Cup 3rd Round
Lichfield Phoenix 1 v 0 Coleshill Town
COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
These teams met at Lichfield on Saturday last, both being strongly represented. The opening exchanges were greatly in Coleshill's favour. Then mis-fotune overcame the visitors, for Warder met with an accident and had to retire for the rest of the game. Whorton, a few minutes later, also got hurt and had to rest. Half time arrived with no goals being scored. On resuming Nichols went back and Coleshill relied on four forwards. Despite this great handicap the visitors had a fair share of the game. Lichfield were then awarded a penalty, from which they scored the only goal of the match. In spite of vigouous attacks by the "Rabbits" they failed to find the net and when the whistle blew Lichfield had won by 1 goal to 0.
Coleshill Team: Humphries, Whorton, Warder, Clarke, Clare (capt), Watkins, R. Nichols, J.A.Nichols, Wright, Lewis, and Williams.
Referee: Mr Smets of Birmingham.
The only comment neccessary is "Unfortunate" and "Hard lines Warder".
"FORWARD"
"I HEAR"
That Coleshill F.C. were very unfortunate at Lichfield on Saturday last.
That Warder's accident certainly robbed them of victory.
That all the "Rabbits" were on the top of their form.
That J. Nichols gave a splendid display at back in the second half.
That today (saturday) Coleshill meet Kettlebrook in the replay for the Coleshill Cup.
That the winners qualify for the Semi-Final.
