Saturday 8th November 2008
Midland Football Alliance
Coleshill Town 2 v 2 Market Drayton Town
Scorers:
Colemen: Anthony Hall, Danny Carter.
Drayton: Duncan Horler, Stuart Ellis.

Market Drayton are now five points clear at the top of the table. They are the bench mark. They are big and strong but can play a bit as well and their tempo and work rate was excellent. So that's where we need to be! Having said that, a narrow defeat to second placed Sphinx and a draw with Drayton (so nearly a win) in the last two games, can't be too bad!

With Simon Volante now available and James Dance serving the last of his three game ban, on loan Wayne Dyer played his last game for Coleshill. He has been rather dissappointing but rumour has it he may go to Worcester, so he must have something about him. Josh McPherson was unavailable so Carl Adams stepped into the sweeper role and gave us something that we just don't seem to possess, a presence, an organiser, a voice and with Neil Kitching switching to his preferred forward role, we also had someone to hold the ball up.

Carl Adams decided to play three up front. Risky, playing a side who score for fun but it kind of worked, giving the visitors back four something to think about and not giving them the time and space they are usually accustomed to. Honours were even in the opening minutes. Drayton forward Tom Rogers brought the ball down cleverly but shot wide then Paul Bowyer made a great saving tackle as Neil Kitching broke into the box but the league leaders started to apply some pressure as the half hour mark approached. Martyn Davies shot over from a great position, Duncan Horler also shot wide twice and Bowyer headed wide a free kick to waste another great chance before Coleshill took the lead against the run of play. Wayne Dyer floated in a free kick and Kitching got above everybody to head against the post with the keeper beaten. Luckily the ball came straight out to Ant Hall who gleefully tapped home for the opening goal. Coleshill gained confidence from the goal and gave as good as they got but Market Drayton upped the ante again with Chris Butler having to save from Davies and Horler before they finally found a break through. Davies found the ball at his feet from a poor Adams clearance and he crossed along the six yard line for the onrushing Horler to smash into the net.

The action never stopped in a very open game. A Stuart Ellis cross was met by Craig Ryan and Lee Hunt had to clear. Kitching had a header blocked and saw a shot go well over. Gary Anslow ran from deep and was only stopped with a good Hunt tackle. Horler then had a cracking shot that thundered off the post and Ellis shot just wide as Drayton showed their class. But Coleshill hung in, competed for everything and finally stunned the visitors by taking the lead. Matty Robinson out muscled Anslow down the right side of the box and sent a cross along the six yard line for the waiting Danny Carter to shoot home after being on the pitch less than ten minutes. Drayton showed once again why the are top of the pile as they hit back immediately. An attack looked to have been cleared but the ball came out to Stuart Ellis who hit a sweet left foot shot through a crowd of players and into the net for a cracking goal but the two fingered salute was uncalled for. Market went in search of a winner but Butler saved from Rogers and Ryan shot over. Matty Robinson got clear but his left foot shot went high and wide. Drayton substitute Tom Ward pinched the ball off Ant Hall and powered down on goal but his shot was well off target. Hall had a header tipped over the bar at the other end but the best chance came in time added on as Stuart Hendrie attacked down the right wing and crossed for the on coming Robinson who completely out of character sent the opportunity over the bar.

One point from the top two is possibly one more point than was expected but it could so easily have been four. The objective now is to push on and get points from teams in and around us. The next four games, Oadby, Bridgnorth, Causeway and Oldbury are big games and will go along way in deciding Coleshill's fate this season.

Team;- Chris Butler, Andy Sutherland, Lee Hunt, Anthony Hall, Carl Adams (Stuart Hendrie), Nathan Pulisciano, Lee Bloxham (Simon Volante), Wayne Dyer, Matty Robinson, Neil Kitching, Ben Porter (Danny Carter). Subs not used Stuart Adamson, Michael Campbell.

NON-LEAGUE PAPER WROTE
Leaders Market Drayton suffered a disappointing afternoon as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Coleshill. Anthony Hall and Danny Carter twice handed the home side the advantage only for Duncan Horler and Stuart Ellis to level.

COLESHILL GAZETTE WROTE
Great result against league leaders
Having took second in the table close, Coleshill were looking forward to pitting themselves against the league leaders Market Drayton Town. Drayton finished third last year and are five points clear at the top this term so they are the bench mark for promotion. Coleshill matched the big, strong side for effort and took the lead when a Neil Kitching header came back off the post and Ant Hall was on hand to knock the ball in. Drayton were level by half time but Matty Robinson crossed for Danny Carter to tap in on 70 minutes only for the visitors to equalise two minutes later. Robinson had a glorious cahnce to take all three points in time added on but Colesill's top scorer sent his effort over the bar.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Market Visit Reaps Rewards For Coleshill Town
Coleshill Town produced a gutsy performance to hold the Alliance league leaders to a 2-2 draw. Honours were even in the opening minutes as both sides looked to gain an advantage. Drayton forward Paul Bowyer made a great saving tackle as Coleshill's Neil Kitching broke into the box. The league leaders started to apply some pressure as the half hour mark approached. Martyn Davies shot over from a great position, Duncan Horler shot wide twice and Bowyer headed a free kick wide for the visitors before Coleshill took the lead aginst the run of play. Wayne Dyer floated in a free kick and Kitching rose above everybody to head against the post. However, the ball came straight out to Ant Hall who gleefully tapped home. Coleshill gained confidance from the goal and gave as good as they got but Market Drayton upped the ante with Chris Butler saving from Davies and Horler. Market Drayton finally made the breakthrough as Davies found the ball at his feet from a poor Adams clearance and crossed for the onrushing Horler to smash into the net. The action never stopped in a very open game. A Stuart Ellis cross was met by Craig Ryan and Lee Hunt had to clear for Coleshill. Kitching then had a header blocked and fired over for the home team while Horler saw a cracking shot thunder off the post for Drayton. Coleshill were still in the match, however, and stunned the visitors by taking the lead. Matty Robinson out mustled Anslow down the right and sent a cross along the six yard line for the waiting Danny Carter to fire home. Drayton, however, hit back immediatley as Ellis hit a sweet left foot shot through a crowd of players to rescue a point for the leaders.
