MATCH REPORT:

Coleshill Town promoted to the Midland Alliance last season entertained Bridgnorth Town also promoted to the Midland Alliance, on a cold windy Saturday afternoon at Pack Meadow. Looking at the league table and recent results it is Bridgnorth who have adjusted to the higher standard of football, but on this showing it was Coleshill who looked like a top 5 side and Bridgnorth the team in the bottom half of the table.
Bridgnorth lined up 4 - 4 – 2, and Coleshill with a 3 - 5 - 2 formation, and it was Coleshill who started the brighter of the two sides, playing an attacking brand of football with Dance, Hendrie, Freeman and Robinson all in the thick of the action early on. Bridgnorth competed well, but their direct style of play was dealt with easily by the commanding back three of Coleshill, with Davies in particular marshalling his defence well throughout the game.
The first chance of the game fell to Freeman, after been fed by the excellent Hendrie, only for the Bridgnorth keeper to push the effort around his post. Coleshill were dictating the play now, and the extra man in midfield was hurting Bridgnorth, as they could not cope with the bursting runs of Dance and Pulisciano down the flanks. Robinson shot wide whilst well placed, and Bloxham stung the hands of the keeper from 20 yards, as there seemed to be no way past the excellent Bridgnorth goal keeper. Bridgnorth’s answer seemed to be from set pieces, as they sent up the big guns at every opportunity, but Hall, Hunt and Davies held firm. On 38 minutes a ball into the box by Bridgnorth saw the slightest of push’s by Hall on Horler, and the striker hit the deck. From the resulting Penalty Kick Butler saved superbly down to his right, pushing the ball away for a corner. Whilst Coleshill were still praising Butler, they failed to deal with the incoming corner, and a flick at the near post ended in Sangha tapping in on the line. Coleshill continued to dominate proceedings, but failed to make their pressure count.
HALF TIME COLESHILL TOWN 1 BRIDGNORTH TOWN 1

The second half continued in much the same vain, Coleshill dominating the match and playing attractive offensive football, but Bridgnorth were a threat and continued to throw the ball into the box at every opportunity. Coleshill sent on Carter for Freeman, and his quick feet and brain only added to Bridgnorth’s problems. Within minutes of him being on Hendrie and Volante combined to put Carter through, his first touch was excellent, but on rounding the keeper seemed to push the ball too wide and his shot was well saved by the recovering keeper. Coleshill’s tempo and pressing game was now beginning to takes its toll, and they began to look tired, as Brignorth came more and more into the game. They themselves began to play some nice attacking football but at no point did they test Butler who looked calm and assured at all times.
As Coleshill tired, Dance was forced deeper and deeper into the right full back position for the first time in the game, as Bridgnorth tried to get balls in behind Coleshill’s wing backs. Dance seemed to strengthen Coleshills defence, and in doing so managed to catch his breath and gain his second wind. For the remainder of the game his bursting runs from deep and into the heart of Bridgnorth’s defence was causing problem after problem, and within minutes Coleshill were level when after several passes down the left hand side saw the ball put through to the reliable Robinson who made no mistake from 10 yards out. Coleshill continued to press for the winner, and chances fell for Hendrie, Dance, and Carter again, but they found the Bridgnorth keeper in excellent form. 1 – 1 the final score but Bridgnorth can count themselves lucky, as a convincing Coleshill win should have been the outcome, and but for some fine goal keeping on another day the scoreline could of read 5 – 1.
So another draw, but with a couple of fresh faces and the same commitment from the existing players, a top half position is more than achievable.
Coleshill Man of the Match : THE TEAM! : Pressed and Pressed and Pressed until they had no more to give. Quality with the ball, and worked so hard without it.

SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
The honours were shared at Coleshill Town where visitors Bridgnorth Town drew 1-1. Ravi Sangha gave Bridgnorth the lead on the stroke of half time but Matty Robinson equalised.

COLESHILL GAZETTE WROTE
Caretaker managers Neil Kitching and Colin Strong took charge of this game after the departure of Carl Adams. Coleshill played well and should have had the game wrapped up by half time but amazingly went into the break 1-0 down. The second half was more even but Coleshill did manage to salvage a point through leading scorer Matty Robinson.

COLESHILL HERALD WROTE
Town Take Point Amid Turmoil
Coleshill Town were left to rue their missed chances as fellow promoted outfit Bridgnorth Town claimed a battling point from Pack Meadow. It was the visitors who entered the match with immpressive form and results this season - but it was Coleshill, under the caretaker management of Colin Strong that held the upper hand in the early phases. The first opportunity of the freezing cold afternoon fell to Rob Freeman who was spurned by the goalkeeper and the post after being fed through by Stuart Hendrie. Coleshill's 5-3-2 formation afforded Simon Volante and Nathan Puliciano room to bomb forwards ar will. Matty Robinson fired wide when well placed and Lee Bloxham stung the goalkeepers fingers with a 20 yard effort. A sucker punch was served to Coleshill when a soft penalty was awarded following a push from Ant Hall. The spot kick was saved by Chris Butler, but from the resulting corner Sangha tapped home from close range a minute before half time. Pressure finally paid off in the second half when Matty Robinson made no mistake from ten yards out, but chances came and went for Hendrie, Dance and Carter to secure all three points.
