Boldmere St Michaels 3 v 1 Coleshill Town
Scorers:
Town: Danny Carter 17.
Mikes: Stuart McNaught 7, Lee Osborne 27, 55.
COLESHILL Town lost their Boxing Day battle with high-flying Boldmere.
The men from Packmeadow made a bright start with Stuart Hendrie's effort from the 18 yard line going wide quickly followed by a James Dance effort that went even closer.
Boldmere soon settled and were rewarded with the opening goal with their first attack on seven minutes.
Stuart McNaught collected the ball in central midfield and sent the play wide left to Lee Osborne. Osborne's low cross to the back post found the incoming McNaught, who had continued his run and he guided the ball into the net. Chris Butler made a fine save from Osbourne and McNaught nearly scored his second at the near post from a corner. Coleshill did not let their heads drop and continued to go on the attack as they responded by enjoying a spell of good attacking football. A foul by Hamilton on the edge of the Boldmere area offered a free kick chance to Matty Robinson which was well defended by the home wall. The rebound fell to Hendrie whose ball back into the area was headed against the bar by Ant Hall.
Robinson was then denied by the first of many fine saves from Boldmere keeper Adam Jenkins before the visitors levelled on 17 minutes.
Danny Carter's pass into the area was well received by Robinson.
The former Romulus striker played a return ball to Carter who struck a powerful low drive into the corner of the net. Coleshill continued to enjoy the better of the play but Boldmere regained the lead, against the run of play on 27 minutes as Weller's pin-point cross found Osborne who scrambled home at the back post. In a very entertaining game Coleshill hit back with a Carter effort going just wide then Jamie Silver shot straight at the keeper as Coleshill dominated proceedings but looked vunerable on the break as Mark Mason missed a glorious chance to increase the Mikes lead.
Coleshill thought they had levelled in the second half but Robinson was ruled offside after converting Dance's deep cross. A minute later, they found themselves 3-1 down when Adam Wood played in Kirk Smith whose measured pass through the Coleshill defence was collected by Osborne.
He remained strong and, under pressure from Hall, coolly slotted the ball under the advancing Chris Butler. Little was seen of Boldmere as an attacking force after that with the points surely in the bag. Coleshill had two good shouts for penalties and the Saints stopper Adam Jenkins made outstanding saves from Hendrie and Dance but there was to be no way back as Coleshill's six match unbeaten run came to an end.
A defeat and disappiontment from the management for some poor defending but all in all this was a good performance against a good and in form team. The difference was that Boldmere took their chances, three goals from five or six efforts, whereas Coleshill kept possession well and played some lovely football but where thwarted by a combination of the woodwork, some wayward shooting and an inspired performance by M.O.M. home keeper Adam Jenkins.
Team:- Chris Butler, Ant Hall, Dave Davies (Josh McPherson), Lee Hunt, Jamie Silver (Nathan Pulisciano), Stuart Hendrie (Ben Porter), Simon Volante, Lee Bloxham, Matty Robinson, Danny Carter, James Dance. Subs not used Craig Johnson, Neil Kitching.
