Tuesday 11th August 2009
Midland Football Alliance
Kirby Muxloe 0 v 0 Coleshill Town

The score did not reflect the excitement in the game - this was not your typical nil nil draw with few chances, the game was action packed with end to end drama.

Both teams started very evenly with both sides having close shots with in the first few minutes. Excellent distribution form Carl Adams through to Lee James lead to a very near miss from Steffano Aronandi.

Both teams were battling hard for possession and some tough tackles were made by both sides.

Matty Robinson had several shots which caused the goal keeper to clear his goal line pushing the ball just wide of the post, unfortunately Coleshill were unable to take advantage from the corners even though Adam Kinder produced some strong heading ability.

Kirby Muxloe passed the ball quickly and kept possession well causing Coleshill to close down quickly to stop them playing, this produced an over ran midfield and both teams were looking to pass the ball to the wingers.

Robert Freeman used his pace and ability to beat several players and pass the ball to Lee James who's shot just went wide.

Coleshill's defence kept tight through out the first half with strong defending as a unit which kept the score at nil nil at half time.

Second half began with a change of formation and substitution of Lee Millard saw James Fox entering the field of play.

Not sure if Coleshill had a strong cup of tea at half time but they certainly came back out with fuelled energy and a desire to win the game.

First few minutes saw a great effort on goal from Steffano Aronandi after some excellent speed, pace and distribution from Rob Evans.

10 minutes in to the second half was Kirby Muxloe strongest part of the game with several near misses on goal, outstanding heading ability from Stuart Hamilton and Richard Kavanagh plus some great shot stopping from Craig Johnson ensured the score remained equal.

Each side continued to press the goal mouth but Coleshill had the best chance when Robert Freeman just headed over the cross bar in an empty goal mouth in the late stage of the game after Coleshill had most of the play and possession.

Coleshill certainly worked hard throughout the match to gain their first point of the season, which will only inspire the players to achieve more in the coming match's.

Coleshill's officials were impressed with new boys Kirby. They have a lovely little ground, football and cricket combined, they played some neat football and their hospitality was excellent. One small problem, car parking is a nightmare but with a healthy crowd of very close to 100, who's complaining.

Team: Craig Johnson, Rob Evans, Stuart Hamilton (Capt), Richard Kavanaugh, Lee Millard (James Fox), Lee James, Carl Adams, Rob Freeman, Adam Kinder, Matty Robinson, Stefano Aronandi. Subs not used Ryan Scott, Lewis Moseley.

Kirby's first home game in the Aspire Midland Alliance brought 97 spectators to see them play Coleshill Town and gain another point.
Marc Sherlock made his debut on the left as Marc Schulz made way, The strike force of Verrall and Mason started.
Both teams were evenely matched for most of the match with chances not being taken by either. Coleshill could have took all three points on more than one occasion but the infamous 'Kirby bobble' seen the shots go over or wide.
