Anthony Carney's second half header proved to be the difference as Coalville Town recorded a 1-0 victory at Coleshill Town.
After a disappointing showing at the weekend Coalville took to the field with a different formation while Carl Bacon and new signing Chris Goodman made their full debuts.
Coalville made a slow start and goalkeeper Richard Williams was called on to produce two point-blank saves in the opening 10 minutes to deny Robert Freeman.
With Coalville struggling to get a foothold in the game it was Coleshill who continued to look the more likely with player-manager Carl Adams a prominent figure in everything good from the home side.
The game threatened to get ugly midway through the first half when Coleshill captain Stuart Hamilton landed a punch on Lewis Dodd. Dodd was left requiring lengthy treatment while Hamilton was fortunate to remain on the pitch with the offence being missed by the match officials.
As half-time approached Williams and Freeman restarted their personal dual with Williams again coming out on top thanks to two first class saves.
The first came with a stunning reaction save from Williams after Adams had unlocked the Coalville defence and then, deep into the seven minutes of first half stoppage time, Williams flung himself full length to tip over a well struck Freeman shot.
After being on the back-foot for much of the first half Coalville came into the game more after the interval with substitute strike-force Carney and Michael Swan stretching the home defence.
The only goal of the game was scored in the 74th minute when Carney got the merest of touches on Cameron Stuart's inviting free-kick to register his first goal for the club.
Coleshill battled away for an equaliser but were repeatedly denied by the commanding Danny Haynes at the heart of the Coalville defence.
After enduring eight minutes of stoppage time the full-time whistle was warmly greeted by Coalville as the Ravens took their tally to 12 points from a possible 15 despite again not getting to anywhere near their best form.
