Home Win Can Be Springboard For Town, Says Scott
Coleshill Town secured their first home league success of the season with a hard fought victory over Biddulph Victoria.
A first half penalty, courtesy of Luke Williams, and further strikes from Matty Robinson and Chris Gumery were enough to seal victory and Coleshill assistant manager John Scott admitted the win was a welcome relief.
He said "It was our first home win of the season at long last, and it's good to get that. Biddulph gave us a very tough test. They really came at us early on and pinned us back. They had one or two goal-scoring opportunities but we held tight. We got the penalty in the 18th min and that was basically the turning point for us, and from then on, we strated to pin them back".
The win was the Coleshill's second in as many games following last saturday's 3-1 success against Goodrich in the FA Vase and Scott is pleased to see results picking up.
"From the strat of the season it has been a case of rebuilding the side, and every week to improve and make us better," he continued. "We've brought in a couple of new players and we feel we're bringing together the squad that we want, and it's starting to take shape. As a result, we have had better performances from the whole squad".
Coleshill's next game is away at Bewdley Town in the FA Vase first round on saturday and belief is high that they can win again.
"Our last two performances have been hard working and we've got the results," said Scott. "I'm hoping we'll have the extra quality to do that again. Confidence is good, and belief is growing in the team."
