Report by Paula Scott

Coleshill expected a talented Burton Albion to grace Pack Meadow and that's excactly what they recieved.

Possession and quick play were the Albion strategy for the evening and caused Coleshill to chance the game.

Midfield was fast and furious and continuous accurate passing stretched the Coleshill defence, Richard Kavanaugh and Jason Lanns placed some exactly timed tackes to keep the score equal.

Two penalties in quick succession gave Burton the lead after quick footwork caused Coleshill to produce the fouls so Burton left the field at half time two goals ahead.

Within seconds of the second half kicking off Burton found their third goal and a hat trick for Greg Pearson much to the dismay of the Coleshill team.

Coleshill were not deterred and tried to keep posession and had a short spell where they were dominant leading to a great goal for Matty Robinson.

Coleshill pushed for the second goal but Burton did gain their fourth goal of the evening, the result did not ever look in doubt after the penalty decisions but Coleshill could take pride in losing to an excellent side.

Carl Adams was pleased to see Manager of Burton Albion Paul Peschisolido take the time to visit Pack Meadow, it was a good boost for the supporters and the club. "I felt we did try to compete but the stregth in the side of Burton Albion was evident".

Scorers:
Coleshill: Matty Robinson 57
Burton Albion: Gregg Pearson 15, 26, 47, Aaron Webster 85.

NB. This was only the third time that Coleshill have played a professional team in a competitive match in their 115 year history, so Matty Robinson joins a very small list of players who have scored against pro teams. Another acalade to add to his list of club goalscoring records.

In fact this list only includes one other player.

Coleshill played Birmingham City in the Birmingham Senior Cup in 1988 and after a 0-0 draw at Pack Meadow, they then drew 1-1 at St Andrews with "The Evening Mail" stating "Tate scored for Coleshill in the 1st half". This was in fact a nickname, the full name of the scorer being centre forward John Taylor. Coleshill won 3-2 on penalties, (no record of scorers), and then went on to play Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux where they lost 3-0 to an almost full strength Wolves team.
